Guest guest
Sat Nam Christa, Linda Raised in a "Christian" family the concept of God is not foreign to me, and I still go, to Unity. To me, church merely put me on a path to pursue or complete what 'church' and the dogma only begin. Where are the answers to the question, in church, about this one: "The kingdom of heaven (God) is within you." There are others but the point for me is that church falls short. I found, experience that is, the answer to that question when I meditate. And daily when I remind myself that 'seperation' from fellow beings is only part of the illusion. I never got to 'experience' that in church, I just had to make do with what I was told. I was raised to believe and my yogic knowlege confirms, that we are spiritual beings having a human experience AND that we MUST take an ACTIVE part in that spiritual path, going to church every Sunday or Saturday alone, doesn't do it (in my humble opinion). Our moms and dads like us to go because it reinforces what our grandparents passed to them. Its piscean, its short-sighted, it doesn't allow for change, its one size fits all. And last but not least, theres frequent contradiction in the Bible. Changes from one book to the next regarding the same events- embellished if you will - according to retired Episc. Rev. Spong. In fact when I read Bible scripture I read it with a yogic frame of mind, and its like finding hidden treasure almost every time. Well thats my thoughts on the 'must go to church' subject. Guest guest
As I worked in my garden this morning I became aware of the sense of freedom I now enjoy in terms of "religion" and how long it took be to release the fear the "Christian" church indoctrinated me with. I remember being so scared because I couldn't accept what I was being taught as a child/teenager, but trying to believe because there were good people there in that faith who were true believers. I left the fundamental faith I was reared in and journeyed without religion for many years. I eventually tapped into yoga and then Buddhism. I meditate with a Sangha group. I attend a Unitarian Church where all religions and faiths are given their due. I am married to a Unitarian. I am almost envious of his lack of guilt, shame, blame not given to him in the name of the church....My grown son is now seeking his own way and is involved with a religious group. My grown daughter thinks it's all worthless. They're on their path....and so we all are. Sat Nam Luci
Guest guest
Almost very well said, Yes I like your thoughts and as a matter of fact it just the path to holiness that what I understand from my catholic church praying everyday, meditating and acting acording to my believes which are not different from a yogi conduct and pattern of thoughts but what I see not every person is willing to act, pray and meditate at all. Any way I liked very much your thoughts Sat Nam ajana6chakra <sixthchakra wrote: "The kingdom of heaven (God) is within you." Guest guest
Sat Nam Lizette, My thoughts on church and Bible scripture are a result of my Christian Science upbringing (I no longer practice though I read their lesson) and my yogic experience, AND from books such as Ravindra's 'Christ the Yogi', some of Clare Prophet's writings and many others, some posted here. For me the message was and is, that where we manifest Truth we can become, overcome or do anything. But it doesn't come cheap.
