Guest guest
I have been plagued with recurring (obsessional) and sad thoughts and remembrances over some personal heartache (love rejection) these past eight months. It is time to put these thoughts aside, but my brain seems "wired" now and I can barely put sad thoughts aside for more than an hour. Please share with me your favorite and kriya or meditation that is geared toward ridding the mind of unwanted thoughts and obsessions and replacing with thoughts that are self- loving and positive. There are probably a number of kriyas and meditations to help us control the "monkey mind" -- what are your favorites or what has worked for you? If these has been a previous posting to refer me to, let me know. In gratitude, Karam Kaur Maryland, U.S.A.

Guest guest
Sat Nam Karam Kaur, A while back I learned a technique from a spiritual person which I found to be very helpful - as it cleared away my depression which I had had for many years. I was told that my depressing thoughts were "thought forms" and when I "entertained" them (thought about them etc.) I was feeding them. Because I was 'feeding' them - they would stay and continue to come around. The way to stop this was to not feed them. He suggested that when a 'sad thought' would enter, I was to say "no thank you not today" (gently, deciding not to entertain it and then go to a neutral or positive thought). I also decided to add to the technique. Each night right before sleep & also before naps & when I first awoke I would say "thank you's". For the "thank you's" I would just list things I was thankful for (even little things, or things one might not usu. be thankful for - thank you for the rain because it will give me a chance to read). Often I wouldn't feel like doing the thank you's (in the beginning) so I'd imagine that doing it was like taking medicine ... When I shared the tech. about the "thoughtforms" in KY teacher's training, the teacher said that Yogi Bhajan had taught that tech. - comparing our thoughts to angry dogs. Hope this helps... Guest guest
Sat Nam, Karam Kaur, here is your meditation. I would like feedback on this one. I would like to make a KYTRaing lesson on this topic. The directiions seem to leave a bit of leeway. Please report on exactly how you do this and the effects that you experience. I would like to request reports from Devinerjit, the lady working on self-esteem and Nancy on body image. And of course anyone else who might have a negative thoughts controllilng their reality. :+) This meditation will help you rewrite the negative scripts in your mind. Sit is easy pose or in a chair with your feet on the ground. Keep spine straight. Place your upper arms along the sides of your body, elbows bent, forearms at a slight angle out, not totally perpendicular to the floor. Palms are flat, facing up and extended fingers are facing forward over the knees. (This is the same position as the RA MA DA SA healing meditation.) Eyes focus on the tip of the nose. Choose a mantra as an affirmation that connects you to a higher power.. Examples are "God is with me" "God and me, me and God are One" I trust the Unknown. Ang Sang Wahe Guru (God dances in every cell of my body.) Ek ong kar sat gur prasad, sat gur prasad, ek ong kar. ( The true gift of the Guru is that God created us all and we are all one.) Pick a repetitious negative thought. Inhale deeply and put the negative thought with the affirmation. "There is not enough, but God is with me." "I am unloveable, but God and me, me and God are one." Repeat the phrase 5 to 10 times while breathing long and deep. Do this with as many thoughts as you like. Repeat 5 to 10 times for each thought. "Every action begins with a thought. And every action leads to a consequence. If we neutralize negative thoughts, we won't suffer from negative consequences. Habit is nothoing but an unconscious thought that hangs around all the time. You can break your habits with this meditation. You are not a slave to your thoughts. The phrase "ANG SANG WAHE GURU" is meant for destroying unconscious habits and thoughts. We cannot stop the thought from coming, but we can meet it with another thought like ANG SANG WAHE GURU. One thought cancels the other and then the negative action never happens." I suggest doing this as directed for 3-11 minutes a day and then use this technique during the day as negative thoughts arise. Looking forward to your experiences.
