Guest guest
Sat Nam everyone, I was reading about Surya Bedan ( a breathing exercisewhere left nostril is closed by little finger of right hand....)..The explaination says that the advatage of this exercise is that it helps in awakeing kindalini and also strengthens the liver to secrete more bile. Now there is another breathing exercise SITKARI which says it decreases bile secretions. My question is rather I am confused about this..is it ok to do both these breathing exercises? Please tell me about this..also when is the right time to do breathing exercises...is it early morning like I do now..or it can be done anytime during day(sometimes I dont do it in the morning..laziness)... Thanks in advance jyoti kaur
Guest guest
Sat Nam Jyoti, I do alternate nostril breathing frequently. It may be better to both to balance. If I feel a need for energy, I do Surya, breathing through the right nostril, if I need cooling or relaxing I do left nostril breathing. I don't know about the 'bile' production, but I've never had a problem with doing both, or just one. This site talk a little more about it, but doesn't mention bile production for Surya Bhedan. http://members.rediff.com/hastinapur/pranayama.htm Blessings Brad
Guest guest
To improve on breathing, I strongly recommend Jal-neti ( nasal cleansing exercise using salt water ). For long, it appeared to me that this is a super-yogi thing to do. But it is not. It is safe and very easy to do. I have been a deep breather for quite long, but the lightness in breathing was experienced only after I did jal-neti. It truly makes breathing feel so cooooooool and is my favorite thing to do everyday. Check out: http://www.divyajivan.org/yoga&health for instructions on jal-neti. gai Sign up for SBC Dial - First Month Free http://sbc. Guest guest
Jal-neti followed by alternate nostril breathing is a highly useful and powerful exercise. gai Sign up for SBC Dial - First Month Free http://sbc.
