Guest guest
Sat Nam everyone! I had once posted a question asking what to do in certain kriya's, like Nabhi, when you are in your moon cycle. I was told that I could break the 40 days into two sets of 20, around the moon cycle. I'm assuming, but wanted to double check to make sure, that this would work for Sat Kriya as well? With the pulls on root lock throughout the kriya/med, I don't think women are supposed to do it during their moon cycle. So in lieu of a 40 day straight Sat Kriya, are the effects the same doing 20/20? Or is there a different approach with this one? Someone had once posted a question on whether or not there are kriyas that are designed for women during their moon cycle (I believe it was Krishan). I don't remember a reply. But it would be nice to know. I have the same concerns each month myself. I scan a bunch of kriyas trying to find ones where I can do most of the sets, without skipping too many. I'm also assuming that, wherever I see BOF, I can replace with long deep breathing. Is that correct? I don't think that applies to Sat Kriya though, which is why I'm posting this question. Thanks! I don't remember a reply. I am not aware of any specifically. But it would be nice to know. I > have the same concerns each month myself. Is that correct? Yes. As far as I know we were never given specific kriyas or detailed instructions for practice during our moon cycle, except of course for what we have already discussed here. This is a time for meditation and to bring the energy down, not up. But lack of excercise can be the cause of PMS and prolong it. I know women who say, they just continue the same program and feel great. Others have a completly dilfferent approach. The best is to experiment with what works for you. And don't get caught up in rules. Remember mostly men created the existing rules. Ladies, take your turn and enjoy it. My bottomline is not to push myself beyond my limits and to take enough time to relax into myself. years ago when I was teaching at Dartmouth College I had bad PMS but it snowed that day. So I had to go cross country sking. I pushed myself out the door. In a few minutes I felt fabulous and the PMS was gone for the whole moon cycle. Taught me the importance of including movment during this time. Otherwise the energy can stagnate. Enjoy being a woman. Sat Nam, Gururattan Kaur The best is to experiment with what works best for you.
Guest guest
Thank you Gururattan. That's sort of what I've been doing. I can tell I physically can't do alot starting about 2 days before menstruation begins and lasting about 2 days in to it. However, by day 3 or 4, I'm almost back to 'normal'. And even though I'm still in my moon cycle, I begin doing kriyas with root lock and navel/abdominal work at that point. I don't mind it then. But it's nice to hear that listening to your body is the best way to progress. Christa
Guest guest
The moon centre meditation, just for women, is really good too. Seva Simran spatialagent1 wrote: > Thank you Gururattan. arvind_kaur
Sat Nam, Ladies I have been taught that during the moon cycle (first 2 days) or if the student feels not so good in the particular posture - let the student to relax and just be in the space where the group energy will heal him. If the practitioner does his sadhana and it happens to be he is not able one day to keep up but he doesn't want to break 40 days practice - one can relax in any meditative pose and visualize exercise (or even whole kriya) for the whole time. After all, our intentions and attentions make use who we are. Blessing, Arvind Kaur
