Average Customer Review: A Treatise on Mystical Theology. this book is a survey of the Kingdom of Prayer in all its length and breadth, in its lowest as well as its most perfect forms. The Interior life is seen to be a process, an orderly evolution, of which we can outline the laws and mark the successive stages. Kessinger Publishing reprints over 1,500 similar titles all available through Amazon.com This book is indispensable for any good library in mystical theology. It is a classic in the area of discerning the true nature of mystical experiences. It is particularly useful for giving practical rules on discerning supposed apparitions and revelations. It systematically outlines the consistent teaching of doctors and saints on the nature of phenomenon associated with prayer. It recognizes the importance of modern science for recognizing the various psychological and physical factors that can mimic mystical experiences. Though written around the turn of the 20th century it is still very relevant for the questions one encounters today. I would recommend this book for any priest or serious student of mystical theology. Deep sharp book on spiritual evolution Reviewer: Jacques de Schryver from Strasbourg, Al France This study was first published in 1901, in France, with the bishop's authorization. Reprinted in 1906, then still today. It is a study, western way, of what indian people call Kundalini. That is energy raising up the spine with sometimes sexual connotations (see St Theresa of Avila), what mstics call the Holy Spirit, God inside, etc. And also this phenomenom may be accompanied by the 'Dark Night of the Soul', that is people feeling abandonned between two enlightenments. These jesuits know much more than they say, and this great book is a must because fully documented (906 big pages in the original french edition I own).
