Guest guest
Oh there is the link! Thanks Gordon! SAT NAM! Also I learned some arm+hand movements to do as you chant the mantra. I will do my best to describe them... Gobinde: Hold arms out to sides, forearms parallel with floor, elbows bent 90* upwards, hands in fists with wrists foreward. Mukunde: Straighten and extend arms upward along side ears, open hands and face palms inward towards each other. Udare: Bring hands together overhead in a prayer-like position but with just the finger tips touching (Hakini Mudra). Apare: Still holding the mudra, bring the hands down in front of the heart. Hariang: Roll the fingers away from you and upwards, bringing the backs of the fingers and hands together in the motion... into... Kariung: ...ending the "roll" with the palms facing up, pinky sides pressed together like a mudra of offering, extending the arms out away from your heart. (this is hard to describe!) Nirname: Arms still extended, fold the palms together in prayer with fingertips facing out. Akame: Bring prayer hands back to your heart! Beautiful! I hope my directions are clear, and also if anyone can confirm or clarify them that would be lovely! SAT NAM! elle/ranjit check out lesson 11 of our online course - kundalini yogakyt11.html Sat Nam! Guest guest
Sat Nam Ranjit! I was with you up until Hariang. Could you please clarify something for me? > Hariang: Roll the fingers away from you and upwards, bringing the backs of > the fingers and hands together in the motion... into... They way I'm envisioning doing this is as follows: Hands together at the chest/heart center with palms facing each other but only fingertips touching. The fingers 'roll' away such that the pinkies are the first to seperate contact and the thumbs are last. The thumbs act as a sort of 'hinge' as the hands rotate from fingertips touching to backs of fingers/hands touching. In this position, the fingers are pointing straight out in front of you and palms are facing opposite sides. Also at this point, the hands are fully extended in front of you and parallel to the ground. Is that correct? > Kariung: ...ending the "roll" with the palms facing up, pinky sides pressed > together like a mudra of offering, extending the arms out away from your > heart. (this is hard to describe!) Here's where I get confused. If I'm doing the Hariang correct (as I described above) I don't see how you can continue a roll so that the palms face up again with pinkies touching. The hands would be doing '360's'. Which means I'm not doing Hariang correctly. But I'm not sure how else to envision what you are describing. Oh, wait a minute. Unless the fingers don't roll away, but rather roll toward you, but they move away. Which would mean the thumbs seperate first and pinkies seperate last. So the pinkies are the 'hinge.' Hands are pointing straight up still as the backs of the hands and fingers touch. As the arms move further out from you the roll sort of 'reverses'. The backs of the hands seperate so that the pinkies are touching again (hinge thing), and stop when the hands are flat, in front of you, palms facing up. Which is essentially half way between the first and second position. Ok, that would make sense. Is that what you meant? Christa
Guest guest
[i was with you up until Hariang. Could you please clarify something for me?] hee hee! that was so hard to describe! thanks for asking... YES! You roll the hands INTO you... I think also you could say that the index finger would be part of the "hinge" with the thumb as the pinkies separate first, roll under toward you and come back together at the sides as palms face up. Does that makes sense? It sounds like you got it by the end of your message SAT NAM! elle/ranjit _______________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx
Guest guest
Nope, I was still doing it wrong at the end of my post. But the light bulb went off when you said "roll under toward you". Now I get it. I wasn't rolling in either one of my versions. I was 'folding' in and out. But I'm with you now. I may be slow, but I get there!
