Sat (True or Truth) Nam (Name) Matt,

And welcome!

"I have certainly wondered that maybe people tend to just give these up when

they pursue things like KY and other, dare I say spiritually advanced

practices." -

--I gave up most of mine before I started in KY. And along the way I became

vegetarian, my body fighting back the first time. So the second time

my body adjusted and I now eat nothing with a heartbeat or made from anything

with a hearbeat (except some dairy). Giving something up, isn't

always a decision I've found. I used to listen to moderately loud rock music,

my body can't tolerate it anymore, its like someone running their

fingers down a chalkboard. I still drink 2 cups of coffee a day, only because I

feel like I need some extra stimulus.

So on the 'giving up', I think in some cases you're drawing the wrong

conclusion.

as for the "raising Kundalini energy but I'm rather sceptical".

--I look at it this way, I read the scarry stories too. Everyone likes to be

scared its fun, but I learned very quickley after I began KY that

having your goal as 'raising the Kundalini' is not really the goal, its a side

effect. And its something you must feel, and that comes with

practice.

I don't do my sadhana every morning thinking 'time to raise the Kundalini',

sometimes I just feel calm or peaceful, sometime not that much

different than if I hadn't done a sadhana. But I know the KY is doing its job.

Why? Because over the years I seen changes in my stress level,

the way I think. I used to take melatonin to sleep deeper, because I'd toss and

turn and dream about work etc.. I stopped a couple of years after

I'd begun KY, for no particular reason, and I found virtually no difference in

the way I slept. Yes, KY does effect the hormone, and endocrine

glands!

But to be really convinced about KY, just start doing it and experiment on

yourself.

Blessings

Brad
