Guest guest
Hi My name is Carmen. I would like to know what videos can I do during pregnancy. I have the Navel Power by Ravi Singh and Conquering Depression with kundalini yoga by Jagdish but these two videos have a lot of excerise involving the navel area but I don't know if these videos may be to strenous during my pregnancy. Can someone recommend which videos I can get from yogatech that I can do during my pregnancy or any links to where I may find them. Sat Nam Carmen Health - Feel better, live better http://health. Guest guest
Hi Carmen Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this, but I have had to contact Ravi Singh to seek his advice. Basically he recommends Yoga Now for the first 120 days - he says that a pregnant woman should be able to do anything within reason during that time. After 120 days avoid any exercises which involve lying on the stomach. Golden Yoga can be done right through to the 3rd Trimester. Both Yoga Now and Golden Yoga are available from Yoga Technology - http://www.yogatech.com I hope this has been of some help to you. Sat Nam! Guest guest
> > After 120 days avoid any exercises which involve > lying on the stomach. After 4 months, any exercise lying on the back is also not recommended for pregnant women. The weight of the foetus on the lower spine crushes the spine while lying down. Lying down flat also causes an inhomogeneous weight distribution along the spine, leading to severe back problems. All exercises which are normally performed lying on the back are, therefore, modified as exercises lying against a stack of pillows for pregnant women so that the she is leaning back at about 60-70 degree angle or to whatever extent she can comfortably lean back without straining the back. Exercises involving gentle spinal twists such as the cat-poses, and exercises involving pelvic openers such as the butterfly poses and the squat poses are recommended during pregnancy. And, of course, no quick jerk motions in the stomach during pregnancy as in the breath of fire or any other pranayama practise which involves exhaling forcefully in quick bursts ( the most rapid growth in size is in the foetal stage, and rapid motions on the navel are likely to be detrimental for this growth). Long, slow, smooth and deep breathing exercises are the solution. gayathri Health - Feel better, live better http://health.

We dont want the pillows falling over here. Health - Feel better, live better http://health.
Guest guest
Just to add something very important, there is another reason no pregnant woman should lie flat on her back after the first 22 weeks of pregnancy. In this psosition the uterus lies on the inferior vena cava, cutting off blood supply to the fetus. Hope this helps all you expectant mothers !!!!
