Guest guest
POSTING TO THE KUNDALINI YOGA MAILING LIST (Much revised - 8/1/2002) (This file is sent to new rs, and is posted to the list as a reminder at the start of every month). The Kundalini Yoga List is a forum for all who practice or wish to learn about the art, science and technology that is Kundalini Yoga, and for the promotion and discussion of all related matters. This document is a brief summary of simple Netiquette, to help our list operate for the benefit of all our rs. Especially if you are new to computers and the Internet, take some time out to become acquainted with its contents. If anything is not clear, then ask - kundaliniyoga-owner For a more complete coverage you will need to check out our Mailing List FAQ - obtainable via autoresponder - faq - or viewable on our Web site - kundalini yogafaq.html If you are not sure about message replying, editing, or other basic computer operating procedures, then please consult your computer handbook, your ISP's technical support department, or a knowledgeable friend, and NOT our list admin staff! 1) POSTING - Send your messages to Kundaliniyoga (the posting address). 2) UNSUBSCRIBE REQUESTS - DO NOT send any requests to the list. Un instructions are contained in every message footer. Detailed instructions can be obtained from the following autoresponder: unsub 3) MESSAGES - Keep messages and replies, clear, courteous, concise and on-topic. 4) MESSAGE SIGNATURES should not extend to more than 4 lines of text. 5) ATTACHMENTS - Do not insert file attachments, pictures, etc. To remove the risk of virus infection, these will be stripped out automatically. 6) REPLYING - When replying AVOID EXCESSIVE QUOTING. Delete old headers & footers, and only include enough RELEVANT MATERIAL from the original to give meaning to your reply - not more than a few lines. This is especially important when replying to Digest messages. Remember, some folk have to pay to download this stuff - make sure they get value for money! 7) DO NOT POST "I agree" type messages. Only post if you have something of substance to add to a thread. If you want to thank someone for their help, then please mail them directly, and not via the list. 8) PRIVATE MESSAGES should be sent directly to the email address of the recipient. 9) PERSONAL DETAILS including home addresses, phone numbers, etc. should not be included in messages to the list. Remember, there are over 1,000 complete strangers out there reading your mail! 10) SUBJECT HEADERS - Insure your message header conveys the subject accurately. This helps others pick out the topics they want to read, and also to research our archives at a later date. If replying to a message where this has not been done by the previous poster, then please change the subject accordingly. 11) MESSAGE FORWARDING. Do not forward any of the posts you receive to others outside of the list, without first contacting the original poster for permission. 12) CROSS POSTING - Do not send the same message to multiple lists unless you give each message a unique header and send it separately. Do not answer or refer to other messages from other lists when you post to Kundalini Yoga. Such cross posting is not allowed, and will result in a withdrawal of mailing privileges. 13) DRUGS - Yogi Bhajan has stated many times that drug taking has no place in the practice of Kundalini yoga. As this subject has caused controversy on the list in the past, and consumed a lot of bandwidth, it has been ruled off-topic. Please do not start a thread on this subject, nor reply to anyone else who does. 14) LIST RULES & POLICY. This is not on-topic for open debate. Any questions concerning list rules, their enforcement or administration policy in general should be raised off-list - kundaliniyoga-owner 15) PERSONAL ANNOUNCEMENTS, including "good causes" should not be made to the list unless cleared in advance with the List Owner. (address as 14 above) 16) FLAMING - We are proud of the helpful & friendly atmosphere we have established, and will work hard to maintain it. Flaming will be frowned upon, and persistent flamers will be warned, have posting privileges withdrawn, or d, at the List Owner's discretion. The same will apply to anyone acting as a 'troll' (making deliberately provocative statements) or anyone making scurrilous personal attacks, or whose activities and general conduct can be construed as being detrimental to the best interests of other rs. 17) VIRUS WARNINGS & HOAXES - Possible virus warnings/Internet hoax messages must not be sent to the list. If something concerns you, then forward it to the list owner. (address as in 14 above) 18) HARRASSMENT - We have had very little problem with this since the list started in 1998, but should you happen to receive any kind of abusive, threatening or derogatory mail from another list member following anything you may have said on the list, you should report this, preferably attaching a copy of the offending message, to kundaliniyoga-owner Offenders will be removed at the discretion of the list owner! 19) SPAM (bulk unsolicited email). Any list r who posts commercial SPAM (messages sent for personal gain, normally in connection with an on-line business of some kind) to this list will be banned immediately. In serious cases, a Net Abuse Report will be forwarded to their ISP via SpamCop, and also to mail-abuse for further action by them. Senders of non-commercial SPAM will receive ONE warning only and may also be put on no-mail status, at the discretion of the list owner! (If you do not understand the term SPAM, then you are strongly advised to read up about it!) 20) PERSISTENT OFFENDERS - that is those who chose to continually ignore or disregard these simple guidelines will quickly find themselves moved to moderated status, or worse. Finally, please use the list to help with your practise and to aid your learning. If you are not sure of something - ASK! The only stupid question is the one that is never asked. We have many knowledgeable rs, including teachers with vast experience, who will gladly leap to your assistance. Sat Nam! Guest guest
Thank you for sending me the information on Kundalini yoga. My name is Jennie (short for Jennifer) and I have recently joined a class taught by an indian girl. I have previously done Ashtanga for a couple of years but thoroughly enjoy Kundalini. I know very little about it and am trying to find out more but I do know that it is powerful. I am currently trying to master meditation, chanting and mantra and the vibration of sound. I have sent away for a couple of books to help me learn more about Kundalini. My class is only once a week and I intend to do much more but at the moment will stay with one class and learn the technique of meditation at home. Regards Jennie
