Sat nam ji's

One of my yoga students recently asked me about this mantra and the

connection to yogi bhajan and the lineage of teachers that we connect to.She

wanted to know if we connect to just Yogi bhajan or to all masters even if

they didn't practice kundalini yoga. I simply don't really know. I could

answer the question by saying "yeh it's universal but it didn't seem right!!!

I know we connect to the infinite teacher within ourself but would like to

know if there is something I don't know!! Love you all.

Good Question!

The Adi Mantra connects the practitioner with a deep well of knowledge on many

levels, conscious and unconscious. If one has a direct relation

with Yogi Bhajan then your conscious experience will have more of sense of Yogi

Bhajan that the "knowledge" is coming through him. If you've

never met him or had that connection then you may not. If you have a

relationship with another teacher of truth than you may have an awareness of

that person. I know of a Reiki practitioner who is "visited" by her Reiki

masters when she tunes in.

The lineage runs deep and goes back to the beginning of Consciousness itself.

Sat Nam, Dharam, everyone..

I've considered why there's not more information

on the mantra when its taught. When I was a year or so into meditation and was

starting to feel a 'connection', when I'd tune in for morning

sadhana, several times I felt a distinct presence with me in the room. This was

noticeable on more than one occasion when my eyes were closed and I

was doing Adi Mantra.

I believe too, that the mantra takes the place of the system used in India

for eons,

yoga practiced only under a Guru. I guess you could say the mantra connects us

with the Guru.

" The lineage runs deep and goes back to the beginning of Consciousness

itself." -

--So I believe we are connected even to the rishis and sadhus that lived in

caves!

Hi Brad,

Do you everyday do morning sadhana and how long? what kind of distinct presence?

Was it just a feeling of someone´s presence or you really saw someone? I am very

curious...

Hi Jyoti,

"Do you everyday do morning sadhana and how long? what kind of distinct

presence? Was it just a feeling of someone´s presence or you really saw someone?

I am very

curious..."

--Every morning, varies, depending on what's in my sadhana. I just changed it,

right now I've settled on Stretch Pose, spinal flexes for 3 mins., 11 Sun

Salutes. Then I

start Divine Mother meditation, currently about 31 minutes. I usually run from

and

hour to around 2 hours on sadhana.

--No I don't and never have had visions, and have never witnessed a

materialization.

But occasionally I USED to feel like I had 'company' when I would tune-in. Or

that 'someone' was there helping me through trouble spots.

Blessings

Brad

When I teach, I am a different person than I am in daily life. I am more

assertive and at the same time, I am listening for something besides the

voices and visions of students. Often when I teach, I say things that don't

feel familiar to me. I can't remember thinking about what I have said in

class. I don't really know much about kundalini yoga so if I didn't have

help teaching would be very difficult. I think when I say the Adi mantra, I

become a student of the Golden Chain. I don't have to be the teacher who

knows. Also, half joking, I tell students that the Adi mantra is a way to

avoid absolute responsibility for everything I say. In real life it doesn't

work that way, but still I believe the teachings come from somewhere besides

what I know. They come through the teacher and not from the teacher.

The Golden Chain functions also when I am alone. When I am alone thinking

about some problem, if I am patient the answer comes. At those times I

don't think, I listen. At other times, if I talk about it, or even write

about it here, the problem becomes more complex, more decorated with more

thought and worry. Then, often the answer does not come. Probably I am

allowing the guru to function in the first case but not in the second case.

Just saying the adi mantra is not enough. You have to be listening to the

guru.

Satnam ji,

since I asked the question I have been assessing my experiences with the

mantra. I have felt the presence of

Yogi bhajan and I have seen glimses of someone's feet. The feet of the

master. I have never seen a full presence but it make sense to me because the

masters are in the subtle realm ,in the light and our nervous system can only

handle so much.
