Guest guest
Sat Nam, All, I've experienced something similar to what Hety and Sir Khalsa describe -- the "rocking thing". It's only happened with one particular mantra, the First Shakti Mantra (I used to think it was called "Adi Shakti Mantra" because it begins "Adi shakti, adi shakti...."). This mantra is very rythmic, and a couple times I've spontaneously begun a slight rocking, almost an up/down motion, with my arms and back. To me it feels like the same type of energy as foot-tapping to a dance tune. Until reading Sir Khalsa's msg, it hadn't occurred to me that this spontaneous moving to rhythm is a type of kundalini energy movement. I mentally separate moving in meditation from foot-tapping while listening to popular music. But the more I get into this, the more I realize the connection between KY practice and the "rest" of my life. As I chant the mantra, the movement comes and goes. It starts only after I've been chanting for a while and am really into it, and it lasts only a minute or two. I don't mind this at all. It feels as though all of me is participating in the mantra's rhythm and sound. Chris B

The rocking and circular moment is related to the second chakra which expresses itself through movement. this> spontaneous moving to rhythm is a type of kundalini energy movement. This is not Kundalini energy that opens up in the spine. It is related to opening the chakras and I think the second chakra, which of course is part of preparing for kundalini awakening. Guest guest
hi Guruattan, I wanted to ask you something--I also have the rocking motion when I meditate-- pretty much everytime--it goes from feeling like an earthquake (actually the first time I experienced I thought we were having an actual earthquake) to my body moving in circular/spiral motions--also, I experience a strange suction feeling in my stomach- then feel like something is coming out of my mouth--and also, my head moves in a circle (like some gravitational force is moving it)--I can hold all of these actions still if I choose to but when relaxed they resume again in full force---also, I do feel heat up the spine and I see with my eyes closed and feel three rods (I will call them) one going up the middle and two wrapping extremely fast around the middle one--sometimes my head feels lopsided while meditating (like one side is up higher and I have to open my eyes to reestablish balance)--then after awhile the energy is mainly in the middle "rod" and I feel almost paralyzed upon a line--when I am done meditating if I do not stretch for a long time my back hurts--my back always has the strangest feeling (not actual pain but discomfort) after I meditate.....and meditation is quite a strenuous activitiy for my body--to the point where I avoid it at times because it is just so much for me to deal with---I know all of this is related to the kundalini (it has been going on now for a couple years since I had the initial kundalini experience)--yoga only intensifies the meditation experience--however, when I don't meditate or do yoga I have a hard time too because the energy gets stuck--I have neck pain all of the time --- especially at the very bottom of the skull----I guess my question is, do you know what is going on?--is this the opening of the chakras?---is this a certain discernable phase?--what is the best way for me to deal with the intensity of this whole experience?---because really, for the past couple of years I have been COMPLETELY overwhelmed and confused and scared and at the same time in awe of it all--- It has been hard on me in every way-...can you please tell me what is going on, or if there is something I should be doing that might make things easier on me? ... one more thing, my ego is in a crisis--and this is the hardest of all to work with-- any advice? thank you, michelle on 8/12/02 12:01 PM, Gururattan K.Khalsa at rattanak wrote: Sat Nam, > It's only happened with one particular mantra, the First Shakti Mantra (I > used to think it was called "Adi Shakti Mantra" because it begins "Adi> shakti, adi shakti...."). Guest guest
This is not completely unheard of. In some systems this is called "spontaneous kriya." The problem is that you begin to identify with the movement and so whatever is going on in your psyche, especially your ego, is reflected in the weird energy movements. You need to develop the "witness," or neutral mind so you can just observe the energy and the psyche and not get too caught up in the energy. Then you can just move a little, open up the energy, then actually meditate. Practice concentrating at the third eyepoint and the heart centre if you can, and just relax rather than react to what is going on and everything will settle down. Blessings.
