SAT NAM,

My lips are chapped all through out the year. They

seem to be very sensitive, no matter what I do nothing

helps..

I do not use any cosmetics on my lips .

I just use may be white petroleum or almond oil to

keep them moist but they bleed and crack no matter

what..

Does anybody know of anything which can help prevent

this?

Thanks

Akkama

Well, I'll probably get 'yelled' at when I post this,

BUT.....chapstick!

I keep several tubes around my house and in my purse CONSTANTLY. I

use it several times a day, every day. I can't stand for my lips to

be even slightly dry, let alone cracked.

I know it's not organic and it doesn't come from a health food store -

- but I NEED my chapstick! ;) (written with love and jest)

certain nutritional deficiencies cause this,

are you eating all your carrots? :-)

suggestions:

• Avoid licking your lips; it dries them out. Occasionally place a

little vegetable oil on your lips.

• Drink enough water.

• Rub your finger alongside of your nose and then on your lips; that

puts natural oils back in them.

• Finish your meal with a small amount of lecithin (which your brain,

nerves, and blood vessels need anyway). When you do this, be sure and

leave a small amount of it on your lips.

• Vitamin B2 and brewer's yeast both help cracked lips.

• Toothpaste dries the lips; instead use a toothbrush and baking soda.

Hi there Akkama,

Burt's Bees lip balm is wonderful -- it's natural, don't know about organic --

and it has therapeutic herbs in it. Big seller here in hot, dry New Mexico!

But here's something I've found...the more "stuff" you put on your lips, the

more your lips will NOT put out, or for that matter, your face and body skin

won't either. Petroleum products are the worst. Euuuuck! Oils, if you look at

it in a homeopathic sense, will be more drying. Oil will take away oil. (Like

cures like) Soooo...if I need lip stuff, and I do, I get Burt's Bees.

Love,

Hety

Yup, it was me! sooo many cris's everywhere! :-)

If you go to http://www.google.com and search on lecithin or anything

else -you will find a wealth of information. that's how I found my

answer to you -I search on "chapped lips"

I used to buy lecithin in the health food store, it came in granules and

was tasteless -I was putting it in mashed potatoes for my late husband

to lower his cholesterol.
