Guest guest
Sat Nam All, Perhaps this is mere coincidence but I have been thinking lately about the connection between KY and chapped lips. In fact, I was considering posting a query to see if anyone has been experiencing chronic chapped lips but I thought it was too trivial. I usually get chapped lips in the winter. It's been consistently hot and humid this summer and I don't ever recall having chapped lips in the summer. As well, I just went through a period of about two weeks where I wasn't able to practice KY for lack of time, during which period my chapped lips went away on their own and then returned almost immediately when I started up again. Anyone have an explanation for this? > SAT NAM, > My lips are chapped all through out the year. They > seem to be very sensitive, no matter what I do nothing > helps.. > I do not use any cosmetics on my lips . > I just use may be white petroleum or almond oil to > keep them moist but they bleed and crack no matter > what.. > > Does anybody know of anything which can help prevent > this? > Thanks > Akkama > >
Guest guest
You may want to try this exercise: Take water in your mouth and squeeze it between your teeth, for 3-5 minutes. You may also do this while lying in savasana, and turn your head side-to-side so that you squeeze the water through all the teeth evenly. This is an excellent exercise for strengthening the gums, the jaws, the cheek muscles, and the lips. As the lips are stretched and pulled, it increases the blood flow to the lips ( the blocking of the blood vessels on the surfaces of the lip, as due to heat-burn or due to the clogging of the skin pores in cold or due to excess internal body heat when you have fever or other ailment, is the primary reason for chapped lips), and will solve the problem of chapped lips. I had to face the problems of chapped lips after coming to Utah, which has extremes in climate, and I discovered the above method accidentally to be most beneficial in dealing with chapped lips. I thought it would be nice to clean between the teeth with water after flossing, and figured the above method. It ended up giving me more. I also use salt-water ( there we go, again ) for this technique, and it is an excellent way to clean between the teeth, kill germs between the teeth, strengthen the gums and have good smelling breath all through. I also have some salt-water in my mouth while flossing ( also, the floss slides more easily this way). Salt-water is also the safest and the cleanest mouth-wash you can probably think of. I also use a sunscreen lotion (SPF 30+) on my lips ( not the balms, I did not find the ones I used helpful ). It is true that vitamin-B deficiency ( which is quite common in vegetarians ) might also be the reason. But, I still had the problems of chapped lips even with a good nutritional diet, and a multi-vitamin tablet everyday. Sometimes, the direct harsh weather effects on the surface of the skin could be the major problem. Hope this helps. gayathri HotJobs - Search Thousands of New Jobs http://www.hotjobs.com
Guest guest
I had the same problem, also cold sores, at times, I used Melaleuca lip balm, Melaleuca (tea tree oil), it worked wonders for me, no more chapped lips or cold sores, tea tree oil is penetrating and soothing, which are just two of the seven properties of tea tree oil. Melaleuca lip balm, as all of their products are completely non-toxic, non chemical and environmentally safe...
