Guest guest
I would love to hear from other teachers on this topic also. I did not ask since I thought the topic was tabboo and being new did not want to create disfavor :) s.i.r.khalsa. I have one person who I know does it occasionally and swears that he does not do it when he practices the yoga but it has worried me ..... and my karmic responsibility as a teacher. Thanks
Guest guest
Dear all.. I have just moved back to the South of England and very shortly will be starting some KY classes. Several of the people who have expressed interest in taking the classes, have a history of drug use, one of the students has a very heavy drug use history. And I know that some of them still drink alcohol and smoke marujana on a daily basis. Another drug that I know they take quite often MDMA, otherwise known as 'Ecstacy'. I would like to find out if anyone has any experience or specific advice on this subject, things that perhaps I need to be aware of, in order to offer constructive and safe advice regarding the practice of KY. Many thanks, Krishan-Shiva Kaur ___________ SikhNet - http://www.SikhNet.com ___________ Get news on Sikhism and the Sikhnet web site Sign up at http://www.SikhNet.com/ ___________ Promote your group and strengthen ties to your members with email by Everyone.net http://www.everyone.net/?btn=tag
Guest guest
hey gordon, Thanks for the prompt response. I don't need to debate on the topic. I just needed input in student teacher relationship if possible.I understand the need for the topic to be kept in check. I suffer enough with these debates with my students and their justifications all the time! s.i.r khalsa
Guest guest
I agree, this is a serous topic. As an artist and knowing a lot of creatives, not taking drugs sets me apart! (I "inhaled and abused" when young and it caused a lot of emotional problems in my life) So many of my now former stoner friends spend a lot of down time depressed and suicidal. I think when you toss in the intense KY effects -it can cause one to pause. We've had a lot of discussions on list about the emotional/memory/guilt etc associated with opening the heart chakra. I think a suicidal, depressed person on substances would be on thin ice here. just a thought On Thursday, August 22, 2002, at 03:49 PM, jaapsahib wrote: > I would love to hear from other teachers on this topic also. Guest guest
Hi to All I thought I'd better jump in here. This topic has caused incredible controversy on here in the past. Please limit this discussion to its present parameters - problems in teaching KY to drug abusers. I don't want to see any discussions relating to the broader issues of drug taking, and its effects, whether from those who are for or against. Sat Nam!
