Guest guest
Last night when I was doing cobra pose with BoF, I felt pretty awkward (ok, more so than usual) and think I may have been doing something wrong. Towards the end of the 1 minute, I felt like I was getting cramps in my lower abdomen, and it's not my moon cycle. When I finished the asana, my lower abdomen still felt 'crampy-ish'. The muscles weren't cramping anymore, but rather felt like I had been hit a couple of times in the abdomen. Not sure that makes sense. They felt better this morning, but still a little tender. I'm assuming I was doing the breath wrong. I feel like a dunce with this one breath. I thought I had it right for awhile. It's almost like I keep re- learning or remembering how to do it. One of these days I'll get it. On a positive note though, I began following Pieter's advice last night and this morning. Not only did I do some pranayam before starting yoga. But after holding the breath at the end of each asana, I would exhale very slowly, like Pieter explained in his last breath post. Previously, I would exhale as I normally do, not slowly. Boy does that little thing make a big difference in the effects. The effects of each asana felt amplified when I would exhale slowly at the end. I was amazed. Guest guest
Cobra stretches the abdominal muscles a lot; people usually don't realise it. That's probably what you did and they went into spasms a bit. Guest guest
Satnam dear one, Like everyone else has pointed out the cobra stretches the abdominal muscles. It also works on the navel center. If the navel point is "of ",which a lot of people don't understand, you can have pains in this area. Your navel center can be of by poor diet , falling, tripping ,carrying heavy bags ect. The book called the Sadhana Guidelines has a lot of info on it if you think this might be the problem. good luck s.i.r.khalsa
