Guest guest
Vitamin B12 is a biggy in meat; a deficiency causes anemia I think there are some vegetarian forms of B12 The section of your intestines near your appendix absorbs most of your B12; I had this section removed as a teenager when I got peritonitis from a ruptured appendix. I take a sublingual tab under the tongue at night -I get them at trader Joe's. When I don't take it I am sluggish, have trouble waking up and feel weak -one tab and I am jumping out of bed the next morning! You can also have injections but I am happy with my pill! hope this helps -cris On Thursday, August 29, 2002, at 02:09 PM, ~ranjit kaur~ wrote: > sat nam! > > my acupuncturist is constantly scolding me for not eating meat! she > looks at > my tongue and tells me i am "blood deficient" and should eat some meat. > specifically she would like me to eat a pork chop! no thanks!! also she > said > tuna would work which is a little better but still i am striving to > eat a > pure vegetarian diet. > > can someone tell me, what are some foods -- VEGETARIAN FOODS! -- i > can > eat to help tone my blood and get what i'm missing!? > > thanks so much > ranjit k. > > > _______________ > Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com > > > > "OUR DESTINY IS TO BE HAPPY" > - Yogi Bhajan > > You can UNSUBSCRIBE from this list at the Groups Member Center (My > Groups), or send mail to > Kundaliniyoga > NO UNSUBSCRIBE REQUESTS TO THE LIST PLEASE! > WEB SITE: kundalini yoga > > KUNDALINI YOGA ON-LINE TRAINING. Guest guest
For vegetarians, getting all the "B's" can be a problem. My husband and I usually make a soy protein shake in the morning and add berries, a banana and a scoop of nutritional yeast and mix with apple juice and water. Nutritional yeast contains all the B's. Also, be sure to eat dark leafy greens (iron packed). Good luck! Guest guest
Take beetroot (the raw, the better ) juice, everyday. It has tons of iron, fiber (great for constipation), and is a terrific liver cleanser. In fact, it is a recommended daily food-item these days. Taking in sufficient iron is not just enough. We need to make sure it is well-assimilated by the body. This is true for other vitamins and minerals too. Iron is well absorbed when there is adequate vitamin C. So, squeezin lemon juice in the beetroot juice will help. I often take beetroot-combo juice ( 1 beetroot, 1 carrot, 1 apple, some stalks of cilantro/parsley ). I also add water-melon ( it sweetens the juice too ), if I have it. Basically, whatever vegetable/fruit is lying around and can be used to make a reasonably good combo , but, have the beetroot, for sure, in the combo. I like the taste of beetroot juice ( from my experience in preaching the beetroot-juice to others, many often don't and they have tried other options of taking boiled beetroots ). Also, taking greens daily helps real big. They have tons of iron too. Take a few almonds/other nuts ( which are pretty good sources of vitamin B ). I also take a multi-vitamin supplement, everyday. gayathri Finance - Get real-time stock quotes http://finance.
Guest guest
Sat Nam Ranjit Kaur, What does your accupunturist mean with "blood deficient"? Does she mean anemia? This condition is characterized by insufficient red blood cells or hemoglobin. Do you suffer from fatigue or intolerance to cold? Nutritional anemia arises from a diet that provides insufficient amounts of iron, the necessary aminoacids, or vitamin B12. Good vegetarian sources of iron are beans (soya beans, kidney beans) and dark green leafy vegetables, like spinach, etc. You can get all aminoacids from soya products or from a combination of grains and legumes, like for example rice and beans, corn and beans (beans taco), etc. As for vitamin B12, there are no reliable vegetable sources. You must take supplements or become lacto-vegetarian (like me). Hope this help. Regards, Gilberto
Guest guest
Wow, I am so thrilled with all of this nutritional advice, that resulted from this question. I have suffered from a lack of absorption in my dietary tract for over 25 years, ever since they removed the good bits. But, you all have given me some new "food for thought" -thank you! I hesitate to add this to the list since it is a real acquired taste, but a bit of Marmite on toast is chock full of B vitamins -I loved it from first taste but that may be because I am in a constant craving state for B vities. -cris Walk in Beauty

Guest guest
You cannot "eat" B12 for your body. All of it is destroyed when it comes in contact with your stomach acids. That's why many companies sell it in a sub-lingual form. Your body was originally designed to get its B12 and amino acids from your intestinal flora. A good pro-biotic will work wonders. The great immortal siddha yogi Boganathar said that even the smell beans and grains vex the soul and poison the body! I have been on a diet of raw fruits and veggies for years and have developed a God-like state of strength, speed, stamina, and flexibility all thanks to the grace of the Lord through my yoga practice. If anyone has any questions on how to achieve a perfect state of health through diet please feel free to ask. Victor

How many meals and what combination. Is it fruit for breakfast and veggies for lunch?? or a combination?? Many of us would like to try to eat like this for the health benefits. Thanks.
