Guest guest
Hey everyone.....I think I may be finally reaching an observing/watching point during meditation! (YEAH!!!) I've been reading about how others here get this memories or thoughts and can just watch them and 'let them go'. There was a string a few months back about this and some used a term called 'labeling'. I honestly couldn't understand what you were saying, even with all of the in depth description. How do you 'watch a memory'? Whenever they would pop up in my mind during meditation I could feel my self experiencing the emotions that were originally associated with the memory. And then get frustrated and 'try' to watch instead and nothing would ever 'click' for me. But last night something new happened. Memories started rising, there were two that I remember specifically, and I didn't react to them. One was the time that my purse was stolen. The other was my frustration in getting a MD driver's license (long story involving inter-state paperwork on that one). But this time, as the memories came, I was 'in' the memory, but indifferent to it. So maybe that's not what you all have been describing. But in both memories, I found myself smiling and very non-chalent about them. They didn't bother me at all. So I was pretty pleased I'm finally making progress in that area.
