Listening

Dear Angad and everyone,

Since the subject of "listening' has come up I thought I'd to share my

experince on this subject. For over ten years I was part of a spiritaul

group for whom listening was a way of life. We ate a very strict

vegetarian diet and developed our awareness of God by the simple process

of 'listening' at all times for God's direction in our lives. With

practice we all became very aware of our inner guidance as we asked

questions and listened for the answers in every aspect of our lives.

Should we eat this ? Should we take this turn in the road ? Everything.

While this might sound mindless the object was to become so attuned to

our guidance that it became a flow of awareness so one would know

immediately what one should do in any situation.. Some people heard a

voice, others developed awareness,, some had both. If one practices

this kind of listening after a time it becomes second nature. However,

there was one pitfall when a voice was concerned. It is very easy to

hear what one wants to hear and one needs to be rigorous where one's

selfish desires are concerned. However I always found my awareness to be

absolutely spot on, and it is when I have disregarded it that I have made

mistakes. Everything is a learning process though, and it was all grist

for the mill.

It was an awsome training and has affected my whole life, although the

time came when I could no longer follow the direction the group was

taking and left. The object was supposed to be to purify ourselves but

it became clear to me that some were doing the opposite, claiming that

they were following their guidance. I had done yoga before, and went

back to it, eventually finding KY. I've never looked back since !!!!!
