Guest guest
Sat Nam All, I think one of the best over-all books on Kundalini Yoga is Shakta Kaur Khalsa's Kundalini Yoga:Unlock Your Inner Potential Through Life-Changing Exercise. When completing the final exam for the IKYTA teacher training exam given by Gurucharan Singh and Hari Kaur in Boston, EVERY exam question was covered in this book! I've read in many sources that archer pose strengthens the nervous system. Thank you all for sharing so much in this group. I particularly have related to and gained a feeling of oneness from the descriptions of meditations. Recently the idea of the "watcher" in meditation has been very important to me. JapJi (Sikh morning prayer/poem/chant) talks about the "watcher and the actor" being One. Also of great relevance lately to me in meditations is "sunia," --listening. We studied JapJi last summer in NM at Yogi Bhajan's insistance in teacher training 2, the communication module. A student translated sunia as being quiet so as to listen to God in meditation, and Gurucharan Singh said, "It just says listening. Just listening." Mostly (like others have mentioned) I'm throwing up so much garbage in morning sadhana, that the quietness to be able to listen is very difficult for me. The times when I have achieved the state that I think Gurucharan was referring to have been supremely blissful and insightful! Mostly it's seemed like the God in me, deep inside me, was actually talking to me. The insights/solutions to problems that come this way are amazingly clear and quite simple (like I have owned these insights all along and just never realized them) and usually provoke the physical responses of both smiling and tearing. Anyone else have similar experiences? I am convinced a strong morning sadhana is the key to a productive and happy life for me. The times when I've let this practice wane, becoming too busy with other aspects of life, are the times that have been the worst emotionally for me. A renewed sadhana then brings back the stability and mental clarity in my life. As a vegetarian, I find super blue green algae indespensible and a great source of energy. Also fresh carrot juice. One may consider one's blood type (Eat Right 4 Your Type) in determining what foods are particularily strengthening for you. Also low (or no) sugar power bars II like Luna bars) stored iat the workplace give a great lift during the day. Since KY Yoga encompasses all eight limbs of yoga, lifestyle and food do seem appropriate topics. Thanks for the opportunity to share, Angad Kaur
