Sat nam group,

I just stumbeled over a sheet with yogic numerology. I have to admit, that

so far I didn't took it too serious, but slowly I come to the conclusion,

that there might be a spark of truth in it. So I am interested in learning

more about it. Could someone just give me a clue for the meaning of the

numbers and the calculation?

Blessings,

Juergen

number 108

* the Moon's radius = 1080 miles

* the average distance from the sun and moon to the earth is 108 times each

of their respective diameters. this is true to an accuracy of 0.5% for the

Sun and 2% for the Moon.

* a human being is supposed to breathe 21600 times in a day of 24 hours.

leaving aside time for sleep, the breathing during the waking and active

state is 10,800. the number 108 symbolically represents this 10800.

* in Buddhism, some say it came from the equation: 3x36=108

…but why? ;) I found something that talked about the 36

physical aspects of man. the number 3 here may represent the past, present,

and future, but the number 3 has very extensive spiritual significance all

around

* in ancient yogic texts, Brahman is said to be made up of 108 elements

(modern chemistry has now confirmed that the universe is made up of more

than 108 elements)

* the basic ten digit numbering system developed in India has one to nine

numbers and a zero. The final digit is nine which when multiplied by any

other digit gives a series of numbers which add up to the number nine. For

example the addition of one, zero and eight is nine. This is the

significance of 108 which is a multiple of nine or nine times twelve to be

exact.
