Guest guest
Sat Nam Matt- I was actually thinking about you the other day. I was going to post to you and see how you were faring, but wasn't sure you'd have access to email. Also didn't think it was list rules to post to one individual person (I'm keeping rules in mind Gordon!). So I'm glad that you did post. The closest class to me is about an hours drive away, which is why I haven't gone. The timing of the class there also doesn't 'work' with my schedule (work, kids and home). But they occasionally have 'special' classes. I did attend one class there focused on healing. That was my first introduction to Ra Ma Da Sa (and I had it mentally going through my head for several weeks after the class). Loved that one so much, like you, I bought the CD! I'm not sure how big classes usually are, but I believe this one had about 30 students. Granted, many were there for teacher certification credits, so I'm guessing it was unusually large. Since the majority were their for teacher training, they were also pretty far above my level and asking some questions at the end that was beyond me as well. I felt a bit out of place. Also a bit uncomfortable asking "how do you breath" when others were focusing more on specific mudras for certain types of diseases, etc. The person teaching the class was Shanti Shanti Kaur. She was very nice. I did go up to her specifically about BoF, but I must have misunderstood what she explained. Somehow I ended up doing it like Bakstrika (?) -- that Hatha one that focuses on exhale and not inhale. I was corrected by some feedback from this list. But I do need to attend another class and fine-tune the breathing. I'm REALLY glad it worked out for you. Now that I hear how much you got out of it, I may try to make arrangements to get to a 'normal' class and see if that can correct my breathing issues as well. Did the CD you purchase have the gong on it? I would love to find a good gong CD. I have no idea about people/versions of gong though. Anyone have any recommendations? Hi Christa- To me, there is absolutely no comparison between a solitary practice & the glorious glow of a group practice. You really need to seek out a class if at all possible simply to balance & enhance your solo practice! I have long admired your ability to practice on your own & go SO FAR! I am not as diligent @ home & truly need the "class" situation to keep myself focused (even though my basic nature is to be a hermit!). I too am an absolute beginner (feb2002) but I am fortunate enough to have a local class (which for the center of Oklahoma is pretty amazing all by itself!). I started w/ the beginner class & progressed to the "ongoing" classes & I must say that the group class just keeps getting better & BETTER. We are all at different levels both in experience & ability but those things are basically non-issues because we all have the same goal. It never ceases to amaze me how different the world is after class. Also the fact that our teacher (Madonna Noble) is so incredibly elevated herself that she is able to take us all along with her. There is usually so much to take in from each of her classes that I just have to hope that I have absorbed even a tiny bit! I have learned so much from her that I feel my entire view of life has changed for the better. It has been an incredible journey both inner & outer but I have to say that the group vibe is the BEST! Guest guest
Thanks Sally. I 'hear' what you're saying too. The one class I described in my last post I had attended after only starting ky for 1 or 2 weeks. So intimidating was an understatement. But the intimidation was my perception, not what they displayed to me. I will definately be attending at least one class sometime soon. (Just need to re-arrange my 'soccor mom' schedule.) Once I get a chance to go, I'll be sure and let everyone know how I did. Hopefully I'm familiar enough with the process and basic kriyas now so that I don't to feel intimidated next time.
