Guest guest
Dear Christa I am a new member of this list. Bhavin informed me about this list. Greetings to all. Your narrative was wonderful. The prompting to share what I feel was instant. > My mind still wanders, but has improved ability to 'watch' Improved ability to watch thoughts is a real progression. You should progress to watch the gap between 2 successive thoughts. So says the great scripture 'Tripura Rahasya'. > increasing intensity or realism of meditation dreams Increasing intensity of dreams is also real progression. Because, as one advances in the spiritual path, the dreaming and waking begin to share their attributes. This enhances one's ability to discriminate between the 3 helplessly alternating states of dreaming, waking and dreamlessly sleeping. And, this discrimination aids one in stilling the mind. This is called investigation into the 3 states 'Avastaatraya Vicharah' > newly, more frequent spiritual dreams > full colour moving lion in the jungle popped into my head Spiritual dreams like this also are part of real progression These are images created by the Power of God. Although images are also part of the realm of ideas. The difference is that they constitute 'Real Ideas'. That is, they have their true existence in the other worlds. >From where, they spontaneously get projected by the Power of God into our dream world. > my eyes flew open, realized unreal and closed again However, this closing of eyes should not be done. If you wake up suddenly from dream, prompted by some real image, you should not go back to sleep. Because, that could you drown your awareness in the subsubconscious or the subconscious and lend the power of the spiritual image to the sense-impressions of the subconscious. In these cases, you should sit upright and meditate or, wake up and do some concrete work. Later, if you feel tired, you may sleep. Again, the Lion has 2 spiritual significances. One is that it means the Spirit is coming alive in you. The stilling of the mind will be more from God within And, less and less by your mental efforts including watching. This means you must progressively surrender to God in gratefulness and loving remembrances of the spiritual dreams He is producing in you. And, the next thing is that your superconscious is taking stock of your spiritual progress. And, it will now produce new spiritual insights. Remember not to clothe the insights with thoughts. Let them formulate themselves in you and reveal what they wish to reveal. That way, your subconscious will be transformed. This is called 'Simhaavalokanam', or the Lion looking back after walking a good distance. Yours in God RK Shankar "spatialagent1" <spatialagent1 meditation/dream images > part of the progression to stilling the mind. Guest guest
Sat Nam and welcome to the list Rk! Thank you so much for your reply. I wasn't aware of anything that you shared. > > increasing intensity or realism of meditation dreams > Increasing intensity of dreams is also real progression. > Because, as one advances in the spiritual path, the dreaming and waking > begin to share their attributes. > This enhances one's ability to discriminate between the 3 helplessly > alternating states of dreaming, waking and dreamlessly sleeping. > And, this discrimination aids one in stilling the mind. > This is called investigation into the 3 states 'Avastaatraya Vicharah' This makes perfect sense -- but I hadn't thought of it earlier. Thanks for the explaination! > However, this closing of eyes should not be done. > If you wake up suddenly from dream, prompted by some real image, you should > not go back to sleep. The lion image I saw wasn't in a dream, it happened when I was meditating. I had assumed it was my mind 'yelling' thoughts at me to distract me. I opened my eyes to make sure I really wasn't standing in the middle of some savannah type place in Africa (and as I write this I know how blatantly obvious it is that I wasn't there, but the image was just so real I had to make sure). So when I realized it was an image, I closed my eyes again to finish my meditations. > That way, your subconscious will be transformed. > This is called 'Simhaavalokanam', or the Lion looking back after walking a > good distance. My lion wasn't walking. It was in the shade, laying down in some grass, surrounded by some shrubs/bushes and there was a tree behind him. When the image appeared, he was laying facing me and casually turned his head to look directly at me. That's when I opened my eyes. He wasn't aggessive or anything, and I didn't feel fear at all. Just shocked/amazed by the image. So does this still fit what you are describing above? Thanks again for the response. I wasn't aware of any of these things. I just thought I was fighting my mind for 'quiet' on the next level. If you are correct, I guess I'll stop the fighting and start 'listening'.
