Guest guest
Sat nam, Thank you all for the information on going vegetarian...books, recipes, etc. I'm finding it quite easy and satisfying now. I really lost my appetite for meat during the past year. I haven't had any cravings. In fact, I have been forcing myself to eat meat for awhile. Even as a child, I never really liked meat but was forced to eat it. I will share a real life experience regarding the source of meat. I live on some acreage. I feed my dogs meat from the deer shot on the farm. Lucky dogs get organic, free range, healthy meat. All parts are gratefully used. Sometimes, however, I run out of deer meat in the freezer before the next year's hunting season. So I then buy meat for the dogs from the local butcher. The dogs are never as bright eyed, glossy furred or energetic while eating the commercial meat as compared to the deer meat. I've noticed this for several years. It has nothing to do with the time of year. I've mixed up the timing of when I feed each just to be sure. So, I truly believe there is definitely something to the karma we ingest. If I find that at a later time I need meat, I'm only going to eat the deer meat. At least they live a great life and the trauma is over with as quick as possible. It is the inhumane treatment, terror and helplessness of the commercially processed animals that breaks my heart. And, according to the dogs, doesn't seem to be good to put in our bodies. If you must eat meat, please send love and gratitude to the animals you ingest and to those that you wear in clothing. I'm enjoying the vegetarian lifestyle. My main concern is being sure I get the proper nutrients and keep everything balanced. I don't want to mess up a good thing being new at this.
