Guest guest
Sat Nam everyone! I tried Sodarshan Kriya this morning. This was my first attempt. The instructions I have say to hold the breath and pump the naval once for each sound/syllable in Wa He Guru (so a total of 3 pumps per phrase). But repeat the mental mantra 16 times with breath held. You are supposed to slowly exhale after holding the breath. I find myself straining if I hold for 16 counts. And then when I exhale, it's difficult to impossible for me to exhale slowly. I know from doing the pranayam that Pieter had posted awhile back, that slowly exhaling is definately necessary. So, instead of holding for the 16 counts and sacrificing on the slow exhale, can I sacrifice/reduce the counts and maintain the slow exhale? Then build up to 16 counts as I progress? I tried starting at 12, and I could do it a couple of times, but then I started straining again. So I dropped to 8. I did that for 11 minutes. I was going to keep at 8 for a few days, then progress to 12 counts at 11 minutes for another few days and hopefully get up to 16 counts within a week or so. Is this permissable? Or do you need to really push for 16? Christa
Guest guest
Sat Nam Gretchen, " I was under the impression that eye focuses were chosen due to the desired or intended effect of the meditation (pressure on pineal gland... third eye.. etc.)" --I think this came up before a few months ago. close your eyes to 1/10 open, look at the tip or your nose..what do you feel? Now close your eyes and roll them up to third eye, you will feel the same thing because they both effect the same area. Ask yourself this question, why would there be two different eye positions...tip of the nose, or just closed? I didn't intend confuse by suggesting that I changed anything in the meditation, thats the way I've always done it. Blessings Deva
