Guest guest
I find diet is the key thing for me to smooth out the PMS blues. Especially if you are also doing all the yoga, oils, etc... Not eating sugar at least one week -- ideally 2 -- before the "ladies holiday" really makes a huge difference when I can do it. Unfortunately I have a sweet tooth, especially around that time Odwalla's "Femme Vitale" juice really lifts all the symptoms of PMS for me if I drink a bottle a couple days before, a one during. Plus it's yummy! SAT NAM ranjit >lou.aberg >Kundaliniyoga >kundaliniyoga > Cure for Pms? >Wed, 11 Sep 2002 15:43:22 +0100 > >Hello! Guest guest
For PMS, try a combination of primrose oil, B6, magnesium, and calcium. Calcium is a muscle relaxant and the other three worked miracles for me and my two daughters. About 50 mg. of B6, best as pyridoxal phosphate capsules. Most supplements are better absorbed as capsules. Good luck. Diane
Guest guest
I heard Transitions for Health have made a new natural progesterone formula for people with PMS. They can be found at www.emerita.com When I first started using their perimenopause progesterone cream (called Progest) I felt like I had taken a huge tranquillizer, which I never realised I badly needed !!!! Progestserone is a central nervous system relaxant. As far as I knwo, the PMS formula contains other things suitable for women who are not approaching the change of life. Good luck ! Guest guest
Dear Ladies. I will add a few things to the very informative posts. To " keep the muscles in the abdominal and pelvic regions flexible and stretched" do leg lifts and other navel excercises daily. Camel pose daily massages the ovaries. I know ladies who claim they conquered PMS by doing camel daily. Ranjit mentioned avoiding sugar. My advise to any woman who would like to be emotionally balanced is STOP EATING REFINED SUGAR FOREVER!! Refined sugar depletes the body of essential nutrients and causes mood swings. Personally I won't touch it. There are plenty of wonderful sweet foods made with fruit juices and honey that you can substitute for the sugar cookie. You definitely do not have to deprive yourself of yummy foods, just don't eat any with refined sugar in them. I would give the same advise to men, but men can get away with cheating a little easier than women. It is hard enough for women to stay emotionally balanced without provoking the problem. For newcomers see the KYTraining lesson on the millet diet. If you don't do the whole diet, at least add millet to a healthy meal. Ranjit Kaur, thanks for bringing up the topic. You might want to use you time at the Master's Touch course to break the habit. AFter Sadhana is Gurdwara where they serve prashad, a yummy sweet made of butter, wheat flour and honey. Make sure not to miss it. It will satisfy you for the day. I can taste it now. Sat Nam, Gururattan Kaur
Guest guest
I am confused!!! You wrote that "the menstruation stops as well". Can you please elaborate? SSVDR wrote:In Prof. Arnold Ehret's "The Mucusless Diet Healing System" he discovered that once the body is completely cleansed the menstruation stops as well. During that cycle your body throws off a tremendous amount of toxins that more than likely you have eaten. I have a friend who suffered from pms and was a new woman once she got clean. You can be free too! AMEN! Victor
Guest guest
I wanted to add to my last post that reducing your total body fat to below 3% will stop menstrual cycles and this is a very dangerous state! Our bodies use fat, albeit small amounts to metabolize hormones and other metabolic functions. I had a cousin who was a runner and who had stopped menstruating when her body fat went down to 2.8% -she needed to raise it to 5% to correct this as she wanted children. A doctor I know treats eating disorders and she is at a loss that some of her patients are maintaining these unhealthy body fat levels whilst exercising and eating zero fat. I love the story of the Buddha, when he realized that one can go to far in extremes and moderation is the key to all. -cris Cris Naugle SpiralXdesign, Inc http://www.spiralxdesign.com Walk in Beauty
Guest guest
Dearest Avatar and others, I truly understand your daughter's plight and yours. My dad, I think suffered more than me during my period having to watch me go through so much agony. I refused to take medicine when I was a teenager because it affected my stomach and secondly I wanted to live the yogic life. This lasted for about 6 years ! until I could not take it any more. One of the last straw was fainting onto my brother in law arms to the absolute horror of everyone! I started taking Tylenol on my first day(duh) and it has changed my life . I usually only need two and I figured Two per month is okay for now. I use yogurt to help my stomach recuperate and I do lots of yoga Bof to prevent any problems from the medicine. I also do try homeopathic stuff varying on the level of pain.Natural remedies work with the combination of yoga.I have healed so much physically and emotionally from them, however it takes a while to change your body and the emotional issues attached to your life which affects your cycle. I clearly remember sitting in one of Yogi bhajan's lecture while in incredible pain and he stated that when you have so much pain and trauma during your cycle it means your body is not in good shape. Take care of it and yourself. Do yoga, exercise and eat properly. For me it was the sugar in my diet.Reducing this helped my physically and emotionally.I also refrain from eating heavy food the day before my cycle and the day of my cycle.I eat soup and basically fast. It has helped so much to do so little.I truly believe that with hard work towards a natural way you can do without medicine but it can takes years to get there. In the mean time work on your body ,diet and mind and take medicine.
Guest guest
Tap into that KY energy. The primordial mother will answer all problems related to life transitions and moon times. You already know the "cure for PMS." You only need to access the information. I did the asanas for PMS many years ago with shaky results 20 years ago. But then my practice at that time was shaky. My current practice is much stronger. This spring WHen I did the same asana when my period returned after 3 years of silence, the asana imediately calmed down the pain. The pain started in the same way, but perhaps I was different because my practice was stronger.
Guest guest
Why do we crave bad foods when we menstruate? Those bad foods have precisely what we are being depleted of! Vitamin A & E: found in greasy foods! Better sources: A- sweet potatoes, nectarines. E- Nuts, Green leafy veggies. Iron: red meat, obviously, plus adrenal complex. Spinach has more iron than any other food on the planet by a long-shot... plus, even eating a couple of cucumbers give enough iron for you to replace menstrual loss. Calcium, Magnesium, Manganese: guess what a good source for these things are? CHOCOLATE! so there is more than just an emotional need! But chocolate has sugar, caffeine, and oils which all make PMS worse. A better source: dairy products, beans, citrus fruit, leafy greens and other veggies, seeds, seafood, grapefruit. But... I love chocolate. I know yogis aren't supposed to eat it, though Cheers, ranjit k. _______________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx
Guest guest
Did you know that homeopathic mag phos is the highest selling homeopathic remedy in north america? It is a remedy used for menstrual cramps and related problems. Yogi Bhajan used to say that the way women feel the day before their period is the way men feel all the time. Any comments? Also in respect to PMS, I did some work with a computer designed by a NASA scientist that could interface with peole's electro-magnetic field using three different vectors (most can only use two) and then test the efficacy of substances that had been programed into the computer (don't ask more tech details because I can't give them). One thing that came up consistantly was that the dietary practices that were normally good were often not just before the period and sometimes during the first or second day. I think this would be worth exploring for women with PMS with no medical involvement (such as fibroids). Sev Simran
Guest guest
I've been told that Hazrat Inayat Khan, a Sufi master, had a fondness for chocolate. He wasn't a yogi, but he was human.
Guest guest
Sev Simran, Thanks for your expertise. I used mag phos 30c and threw up violently. Did I just have to work though it? For moon cramping, Lachisis worked the instant it touched my tongue. But I had fibroids. My personality fit the larchisis constitutional type.
