Guest guest
Sat Nam all. In agreement with Gordon, I don't want to dwell on the topic I opened earlier as I respect this is Gururattan Kaur's "group" and the subject is on shaky ground, so hopefully we can bring it to a conclusion shortly. Gordon, please don't get me wrong, I have no intention of abandoning KY whatsoever! I love and thoroughly enjoy this practise and I've only just begun, so who knows what there is to follow? I've been to three excellent classes so far and will be making the most of their availability here in the US before my untimely return to sunny manchester. Sorry, we English can be sooo sarcastic! ;o) I really don't think Barbara (hatha yoga teacher) has a hidden agenda but I suspect you've hit the nail right on the head. Maybe her comments related to people who were "dabbling" in KY and were unconnected with Yogi Bhajan's teachings. I totally agree that there are many new teachers out there promoting "yoga" and rightly or wrongly, lots of westerners have picked up on hatha/astanga purely for fitness purposes. I don't necessarily think that's so bad even though they are being taught a fraction of what yoga really means. It's a "market" and if people just want to take the asana fitness aspect with them it's better than nothing! I now bear in mind my personal example, I started in hatha yoga for fitness and now I've found KY following my hatha interest, so it does have its merits. There is no doubt exploitation goes on, sadly for the time being there will continue to be charlatans out there exploiting people in all walks of life.
