Guest guest
Satnam ji's Yes,the more vegetarians showing up the more the owners and chefs get prepared for us. I have lived in a big area for 12 years. Texas, and this is cow country. We frequent restaurants that are kind to us. We are polite and if they want our business we know it very quickly. We can almost go to any restaurant now in the neighbourhood and get at least one of their favourite meals vegetarian. They even have vegetarian sections on their menus now! They have to know you like their restaurant and want you to come back. Also get to know the wait staff and the chef and the manager! Be personal and everytime you come in they will have their game plan for vegetarians ready to go to! Awesome You have to have a game plan in order to have a decent vegetarian evening. If I don't know the restaurant that we are going to I call and say I am coming with a group and I am vegetarian and if the chef will be able to prepare me something or do I have to rely on your measly salad. They will quickly get creative. The funniest places can be deli sections in the supermarket if you are on the road. If not we pack a cooler with our goodies for at least a day and a half. Thai restaurants usually always have Tofu. Some Chinese places appear to have never heard of the thing. When I pack for trips I make decent food for at least lunch or dinner whatever time we are leaving. Then I stash dry stuff and tea bags ect.Good pickles go a long way, salsa and chips, Yogurt can last half a day, spagetti can be warmed up at a convenience store or truck stop. Trail mix is great but can get boring after a while.Baked packaged tofu ,carrot sticks exotic fruits that you have been waiting to treat yourself to for months are great on trips. When you are traveling with kids for more than a day which I do every solstice celebration You must stop to eat or expect mutiny. We order ice at the convenience store and keep natural soda in the Van.Chili's in this part of the world have the best veggie burgers and it is decent dining experience. We have a lot of fun in little shops run by local people who are so eager to please you. Sandwiches for the kids lemonade ect.I love eating out so I have to get creative. Another thing to is to support these establishments that do want to keep vegetarians happy. They need the money and you need decent food.So do eat out when you can.It is a chain that has to be linked up. Have fun s.i.r.khalsa
