My experience on processing grief and meditating, is that the meditation works to allow you to work through these things as they arise. Just stay with the heart, and out of the head, whatever comes up let it happen. I've seen to other posts that mentioned, 'witnessing' and 'pratyahar', I couldn't agree more, you're going to be having 'extra' stuff coming up, so use the process. What ever comes up just watch it, and let it wash over you and stay with the mantra. And its ok to not have a perfect meditation. Out of the head, into the heart, out of the head, into the heart...
