Guest guest
I have been trying to do Kundalini yoga for about 18 months, and I'm not feeling the huge changes that some people have been talking about. For some reason, I stick with it. OK, there are days when I prefer to take a walk on the beach, or just do nothing, but basically, I don't give up. My life has not been easy. I have suffered great losses, and a few weeks ago, when I really was low, feeling there is nothing left, I was diagnosed with MS. There were hints before, I have heard the possibility, but the doctors that treated me kept saying there is nothing wrong with me, it's all in my head. (A yoga teacher said it's kundalini raising....) I'm having a lot of difficulty dealing with this. I think I got through all that happened in my life by keeping a lot of hope for a better future. Today, I look into the future, and it's not so pretty. I'm 51 years old. At this time, I am very far from being disabled. I think I have always lived in a healthy way ( I keep reading on the net that MS is caused by a high fat diet, I never ate a high fat diet.). I am physically active (probably not enough...). I enjoy yoga, (several years of hatha yoga lessons), I take dancing lessons, and walk on the beach. I have not been feeling well. In a way, I'm sorry to be diagnosed, because when they kept saying, nothing is wrong with you, it's all in your head, I tried very hard and would try to overcome discomfort, pain, being tired. Now, I feel tired, and I say, I'm sick, and go to bed. Bed rest does not help. I'm hoping when I get used to the diagnosis, I'll be back to trying harder. I will probably be on some medication (they are waiting for some tests results before deciding how and what). I am asking if anyone has any advice for me. I have searched the web, and all I can find, is that basically, yoga is good for MS. I would like to take some responsibility for my health here, and do something to keep me as I am now. And possibly, get much better. There is neurological damage now, and I don't want any more to happen. I think having some plan to keep my health will help me to deal emotionally with my fear of an unknown future thank you shoshana
Guest guest
Dear Shoshana, Please receive all my simpathy. My advice is keep up your KY practice, love your self and trust science. MS can be really stressing, but there are ways, there always are. Just trust life and be with yourself. You'll be just fine. Rafael P.S. Hey, never pity yourself, never! OK. That is your worst enemy at the moment. Finance - Get real-time stock quotes http://finance.
Guest guest
Sat Nam, I have seen quite a few people work on themselves and get to the point where the MS never advances beyond a certain stage. So the sooner you start the better. There are homeopathics and nuritional supplements that have found to be effective in treatment. Even more important is the consciousness aspect of the ailment: the knots in your psyche that maybe you don't even realize are there. Working on that can be liberation, not just work fighting a disease. Seva Simran
Guest guest
Shoshana, sorry to hear about your diagnosis with M.S. -- Here are several things you might look into: www.enermed.com They have specific success with M.S. "Mucusless Diet Healing System" by Prof. Arnold Ehret who caimed that there were no uncurable diseases. (if you are interested and cannot get the book I can lend you mine.) I've also read from different sources that colloidal silver is supposed to help. I will look into everthing. I am trying to learn about the use of yoga, and have been re-reading Meditation as Medicine. Dharma Singh Khalsa suggests that mind body excercise works well for MS. I assume, that means any kind of yoga?ÝSun salutations? thanks shoshana
