Guest guest
BLESSING AND SELF-BLESSING - QUOTATIONS By Yogi Bhajan, PhD ON SELF BLESSING: One secret: When you get up in the morning, BLESS YOURSELF! I do it all the time. I do it like this: when I take my first 'curl', I say 'blessed are my hands and blessed is my head that brings them over me and blessed are my eyes that see them. And blessed is my body that has awakened from the spell of infinite death unto activity. I shall tell the whole world how beautiful is Guru Ram Das, and how God is working in personality through this 'pipe' to give people the miracle beyond what is written in their destiny. And then I curl around and I sleep a little more, and then get up again. And I always do it secretly, thrice. And once I got caught by my own teacher. (Yogi Bhajan, December 29, 1983. Recording.) I was given this lesson on my third birthday. Evaluate yourself for three minutes every morning and for five minutes every twilight. You will never miss anything which can serve you or bring you the best. It's eight minutes of self-evaluation. Do it religiously. Evaluate yourself by blessing your head. Nose, ears, eyes, mouth, teeth, throat, chest, arms and belly every morning. Just tell them, 'Be with me and be nice.' In the evening, for five minutes, bless your ten toes and fingers, earlobes and top of the ears. It's an acupuncture. Bless every part of the ears and you'll be a new person. You must evaluate and assess yourself. After blessing your body in the evening, bless your good deeds of the day. In the rooming bless your good thoughts. Your environments, life, your power, projection and behavior will become the best. You have to bless every part of the body with touch. These are your friends. In the first three minutes, at the dawn of your consciousness, befriend your being physically, mentally, and spiritually. In the evening, befriend your being in detail. This you can teach a three year old. What sees in your eyes? Soul. What bears in your ears? Spirit. What talks through your tongue? What moves your legs? What moves your hands? What beats your heart? What pumps your lungs? What works your diaphragm? What moves your bowels? What keeps your throat wet? The spirit of your soul. Have you thanked it today? Why not? Everything in your being is being moved by the spirit of your soul. Feel it, thank it, praise it, understand it. It will serve you ten times better. Talk to it, befriend it (KWTC XVI. 1991)

And when chanting Guru Guru Wahe Guru Guru Ram Das Guru, what to these words mean in English and is it a chant to a person? The lesson on the website says to say it monotone while focusing on the chakras. These words were also told to me in some passing conversation eleven years ago and since then many times on long drives I "sing song" this to myself for miles and miles on end. I was never given a rhythm for it so I seem to have come up with one for myself. Over the years I've chanted it most when I knew I was in for trying times with the veterans medical center or the regional offices about my benefits. The times I've used it, things always seemed to run smoother, more cooperation, less dread, fear, anger, grievance etc..on my part and I am thankful for that. But what am I saying? What am I doing? Thanks for your response. Jena ---------- --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Guest guest
Sat Nam Jena, "Would someone please clarify to me who or what Ram Das is? And when chanting Guru Guru Wahe Guru Guru Ram Das Guru, what to these words mean in English and is it a chant to a person?" He is the 4th Sikh Guru, and I guess you could say a sort of Saint of 3HO. He is said to have 'materialized' to Yogiji, and guides us all in 3HO. The chant you are doing is a well known and popular one. This is from a 3HO yoga manual: "The mantra relates directly to healing and protective energy represented by Guru Ram Das, the fourth guru of the Sikhs. He is held in reverence by all people who respect universal service. It is by the grace of the house of Guru Ram Das that through his channel SSS Bhai Sahib Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Yogiji, the veils of secrecy have been lifted from the teachings of Kundalini yoga. This mantra is an ashtang mantra. It was given to the SSS from a deep meditation on Guru Ram Das, his guru on the etheric plane. It is comprised of two parts. The first part is a nirgun mantra (Guru Guru Wahe Guru). The second part is a sirgun mantra (Guru Ram Das Guru). Nirgun means without quality. A nirgun mantra is one which vibrates only to infinity, having no actual finite components. A sirgun mantra is one which represents form. This guru manta projects the mind to infinity, then allows a finite guiding relationship to come into your practical activities. The first part of the mantra, Guru Guru Wahe Guru, projects the mind to the source of knowledge and ecstasy. The second part, Guru Ram Das Guru, means 'the wisdom that comes as a servant of the infinite.' It is the mantra of humility. It reconnects the experience of infinity to the finite." It is powerful.
