Guest guest
Hello All, I had been doing yoga for a number of years before I came to KY. I had always taken Hatha and Iyengar classes, with a few lapses do to the unavailability of classes where I was living at the time. The one thing that always bothered me about those classes was that it was all about what they called "postures". Every so often we were told to breathe, but no one ever explained "breathe". I knew that something was missing but I kept going. It was like a very easy exercise class to me. About 6 years ago, a woman in the apartment building I was living in handed me a book! I barely knew this woman and we had never talked about yoga so I was surprised to see she had given me Shakt Parwa Kaur Khalsa's book - "Flow of Eternal Power". I read that book and I'm embarassed to say that I kept it until the day I heard that she was going to move. I did asanas, I breathed, I took the advice about personal care of the body, diet (I was already a vegan, by then, 28 years). I discovered the missing pieces of the yoga puzzle I had been looking for all those years. My last step into KY was finding the KY site with the on-line classes and the on-line store, and here I am..... Sat Nam, Mary P. PS: I'm suppose to recite the JapJi poem for 1000 days, is that the whoooolllllleeee 38 stanzas or the first part? Does anybody know? _______________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com
Guest guest
Hello, In 1991 I went to New Mexico to take a six month massage therapy course. I don't know why but I went to maybe two K-yoga classes offered in town. All I remember from the class is breath of fire and talking to the instructor afterward and him telling me that if I chanted the words Guru Guru Wahe Guru Guru Ram Dass Guru with what I wanted in mind, I would get it. I wanted the Veterans Affairs to pay for my school (which had a side challenge of forcing them to VA approve the school for future vets) under the vocational rehabilitation program. On the drive from Santa Fe to Albuquerque I fell into a rhythm with this chant and seeing in my minds eye the guys being nice to me, smiling shaking my hand, signing off on the approval papers and me driving back to Santa Fe a Very happy camper. And it happened just like that. I never did go back to the KY class, I didn't do anything more with the massage after the school finished, but over the years, I'd get in the mood to chant this again on long drives. Not with anything particular in mind, just to feel good and pass the miles. I find it interesting that "out of the blue" I get an urge to look into KY again, I went ahead and ordered the beginner course on video and just glanced through at random the lessons on the website. What jumped out at me was this Ram Dass chant and I started doing that for 11 minutes everyday. I hadn't thought much about this chant in some time. Now I find myself once again dealing with the veterans medical center and the regional offices of the veterans affairs. I want what it's possible I could get, but, I just wish they'd give me it and not make me fight for it. That's why I haven't bothered up to this point, but everyone else sure is trying to push me to do it. So anyway, I did this chant again mixed off and on with a little song I made up and sang to the different people that crossed my mind as I drove the interstate this past Monday to my medical appointment. I felt really good when I arrived. It was weird in a way. I felt like I attracted everybody's attention. People starred at me, almost everyone who caught my eye smiled and said hello. Walking through the hallways at one point I felt like there was a large number of non-physicals following me around and we were blessing and giving healing energy to everyone whose paths we crossed. It was a most different experience for me going to that VA medical center. The feeling I had faded as time passed but still I felt pretty good about everything. By the end of the visit when I actually signed the papers to "officially" re-open my claim there was some dread in me. But, perhaps the time has come. I don't know. I feel better though somehow that this Ram Das chant got brought to my attention again during this time. I am also now watching and following along with the video lessons. love to you and yours, Jena ---------- --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Guest guest
That would be the whole of Japji. The Mul Mantra, which is the first part, would certainly give you a feel for it however. Did somebody tell you do that specifically, or was it releated to advice in respect to your numerology. In the case of the latter (a number one), you could do Mul Mantra rather than read all of Japji. You can also get recordings of Japji in both english and gurumukhi which you listen to. Guest guest
Thirty years ago I was sitting in my $10 a month shack on the Big Island of Hawaii meditating and I had a spontaneous rising of Kundalini that was one of the most powerful experiences in my life. I didn't know what had happened at the time and it was only through reading about KY years later that I realized what that experience actually was. 28 years passed and though I had often thought I would like to do KY there were no teachers in my area. Then one day while I was at a dinner party with friends I saw a flyer on her coffee table for KY class's right here in Placerville. I attended that very 1st class, went to Summer Solstice 6 weeks later and over the course of the next year my weekly practice grew to a daily practice. My friend and teacher decided to move back to the east coast about 6 weeks ago, and though it was sad to see him go, he left me with a priceless legacy. I promised his regular students that I would lead classes one night a week in his absence, so now I'm teaching in his place. I feel truly blessed that Arjan Singh chose to teach here and I've recently decided that barring any change in my attitude or circumstances, I'll be attending the Masters Touch course next Sept. Many Blessings, Bob "It's all good." Author unknown
Guest guest
Sat Nam All! I just love reading these stories...it really warms my heart. I had gone through a horrible break up a couple of years ago (actually the entire relationship was destructive), I was very scattered and continued to do destructive things to my mind and body without even realizing it! Came across an ad for Netflix and decided to give it a try and started renting their fitness and yoga videos. I had never heard of KY and decided to rent Carol Carson's video and give it a whirl. The feelings of change were immediate! I KNEW that this was it. This never came to me while practicing Hatha Yoga for five years. Since then, I've started attending a KY class here in San Diego and have purchased books to develop my own practice. I have been working through my past karma and have had some rude awakenings, but discovering myself and God have been the most awesome achievements of my entire life. I KNOW that I can do anything if I "keep up". Thanks for "listening" and thanks for this group. Jeffrey P.S. Gururattan, I had a dream last night that you were on David Letterman. He can really make fun of people on his show sometimes, but he absolutely loved you.

Interesting the night after our class. He can really make fun of people on his show sometimes, > but he absolutely loved you. I am up to it. :+) Anyone have contacts with David? Maybe this is a message that it is time. Sat Nam, Gururattan Kaur
