Guest guest
Satnam Seva simran and others! I hope all is well.I had no idea I could inspire such act with my post .You must forgive me about putting in that statement in my post. He was doing His One hour and 46 minutes while I was writing the post on "anger and being disturded while meditating" and I was trying not get him angry or disturded while he was doing his "Tapas" as I call it these days, for I do respect what he is doing. You are so sensitive when you do Sat kriya. But Seva simran you pointed out something very real that I have been experiencing even while I was mentioning him in the post.. I felt a touch of resentment because as you said your spouses or family members don't fully understand what you are doing spiritually. Here I am a yogi and I really question why he has the time and inclination to do such a thing! I intellectully understand it but each person has their own reality to work out even in a spiritual household. To address your concern and question - No!!! a beginner should not do sat kriya for an extended period of time until their nervous system is strong enough to handle it.You should be even more careful if your nervous system has been affected by drugs in the last three years Secondly you need a teacher's support to do such a thing which my husband has. He was told to do this by his master Yogi Bhajan. Thirdly he has been building it up for the last year and a half and has increased by 11 to 22 to 31 and then by the minute. He started of in Rock pose then in easy pose and now he is doing it in full lotus. He had a knee injury a couple years ago but by some miracle he is able to do full lotus again to my utter joy. There is nothing sweeter than a man who can sit in full lotus an d meditate It's so inspiring. Therefore he is building up to 2 and a half hour in full lotus unless his master says otherwise. He might advise against it if it is not necessary... I remain supportive and guide and wish him daily sucess at this endeavor. It is rather challenging and has put him through a lot and we are happy with the results. He has been doing Kundalini for 26 years so this sort of discipline in normal. I can't say what all the results have been you will have to ask him. My observation has been that this kriya will change you from the inside out and keep you bright and light as YB told him when he recommended it to him. Also you have to relax a lot after this so he is doing the Ra ma da sa and the sa ta na ma and the one minute breath for 11 minutes each after with a relaxation. He says that helps to intergrate it.He is in the yoga room for a long time so I said two hours. He corrected me and said he is only up to - one hour and 46 minutes, no increase for a week or so and he does it every day unless a family crisis forces him to do less.We are working towards this not happening! I obviously do not reccommend this for myself for it is against my Vata constituition... I daresay I have proclaimed this to my kids who think I am probably the second class yogi in the house:). I however can figure out their problems faster than him so there you go...:) I also do not recommend it to anyone else especially a beginner without a teacher's guidance. Sat kriya is a very powerful cleansing kriya and you have to inspire to do such a act.Your life revolves around something that is sacred and powerful but also very difficult at times physically and in terms of schedule.. when you have kids and responsibilities. We are housholders so that makes it different than the yogis in the caves Being a yogi and doing something that is beautiful for your self and the planet is special and we support him as much as we can until.. we get mad with him.. and the kids request him to go to the sadhana room and do you Sat kriya will yuh.. Well enough about him. Lets get back to meee...I am aiming at 5 minutes of Sat kriya in full lotus and trying to do more Seva when I can. By the way Seva Simram what does you name mean. I like the meanings of people's names given by Yb because the interpretation by the master is so different for different people.Maybe we should all write up on our spiritual names and the meanings??.. Talk to you soon. s.i.r.khalsa
Guest guest
He interpreted it to mean "selfless service" and "deep meditation," and then put it in the context of why - where I was in my incarnational journey, which is probably why the explanations vary a bit.
