Guest guest
Satnam Christa, I have been doing Reiki for over 4 years, and I have it as a healing at the Master level. Basically, you need to first get a Reiki master to put the symbols on you to open you up. There are three levels to this - Reiki 1, 2 and at the Master level. A good teacher should never try and teach a student all three levels at once because the body can't cope with the healing. The energy that flows through is really amazing. Some people feel it very subtly, for me, my hands burn up. They just get very hot. I know I have used reiki to heal cuts- it heals pain very quickly. I wear braces - my dentist is continually amazed as to how my teeth are moving so fast since I am an adult, and on why my tolerance for pain is so high. I can't exactly tell him that I can tolerate the pain simply because I hardly feel it - that is what Reiki does. You can heal yourself once you have the symbols put on you by a Master, or you can go to someone who has the Reiki channels opened up for a treatment. Hence, you can take it and give it. How it works after your channels have been activated is this - you put your hands on your different body parts and sign the symbols in the air and place your hands back on your body. Then just relax. The energy works on its own, it needs no guidance. Since I am a Sikh, I usually just do my shabad or mantra at the same time while letting the hands channel the energy. For me, I feel even cleaner and stronger energy flowing through me as I chant the mantra in my head... so my long-winded answer to if the two can be combined; yes to some degree. Perhaps when you are in meditation state you can put your hands on your body to channel even more energy. But be careful you don't take on too much energy. Reiki by itself will never harm a person unless it is used with evil intent; and even then it refuses to work. From what I hear, neither does KY harm a person, but I don't know of anyone who's tried it, though I am keen. I tell you what, right now I am trying to get my act together to fit in both Reiki and Yoga practices - as soon as I do, will combine both and let you know how it goes. Guest guest
Thanks for the info Sharm! I have one (really basic) question. When you talk of opening up channels in Reiki, is that the same as opening chakras in ky? Or are the channels different? And is the energy that you 'move' through your hands prana, or different energy? See, you give this very elegant and detailed description, and I'm still on the introduction page! Sorry about that.
