Guest guest
Sat Nam, Today when I woke up I tried doing the elephant kriya (drinking lukewarm water and vomiting it to clean the stomach)with little succes. I drank enough water to fill my stomach completely (about 3 litres), but I just couldn´t vomit it out :-x After 15 minutes I got *some* out, but was way to bloated to do any yoga or meditation for several hours (besides having to go to the bathroom all the time later on). Does anyone has any tips on how to perform this kriya correctly? Also, how often should it be done? Thanks & blessings, Gurushabd
Guest guest
Hi Gurushabd, This is one of my loves! I first did it before I even knew of it as a yogic technique. I got it from an Alexander Lowen on Bioenergetics. Yogiji has said that men need to do it 2x a week. I think that is because we (as men) often lose a sense of receptiveness. In this world men are taught to "suck it in" and not feel what's going on. We swallow down our emotions to the point where we are "fed up". Regurgitating gives up a clearing of the tensions stored in the solar plexus and gut. It clears mucus, too. Use slightly salty water, and use water that is hotter than luke warm. Two liters is fine. I find that it is best to first do a good workout of the sweaty kind and then layout and completely relax. Then swallow that water as you kneel sitting on your heels before the porcelain alter and dig your fingers into the diaphragm and stomach and massage for a few moments. I know of one guy who could, at this point, regurgitate. I personally need to gag myself. Tickle the gag reflex and with the breath let that reflex just move through you. It'll hit you. I also think of what it is I don't want inside me. On a more anthropological point, almost all cultures have some person/deity with tongues out with that cathartic grimace on their face. Native American totem poles, the Buddhist deities, etc. In the Peyote culture, you don't get to have the deepest experience until you have thrown up. Guest guest
I've read that the Hopi's will face the rising sun and as it emerges on the horizon, they spit -to symbolically remove any ill-will or acts from the day before. The Navajo also use sunrise as the time to regurgitate, after sipping a medicine after a long sing, a healing ritual involving days of chanting and an intricate sandpainting, which is also destroyed at sunrise. Guest guest
I know I mentioned this website before, www.ayurveda-herbs.com, but I'll mention it again. They have a product called internal cleanse, that will clean out your entire digestive system and it is suprisingly smooth. It can be used as a purgetive or as just a mild laxative depending on the dosage. If you need to throw up it will make you! but if you don't it will run through your system and clean all the way through to the other end. I take some every weekend just to clean out any toxins from the week, I feel great afterward. I recomend taking it with apple juice. LEO, there are also some great products to support immune function. I believe they have facts posted about their help with HIV cases. Blessings, Amanda _______________ Broadband? Dial-up?
