Guest guest
Hello Diana Here are my views on chanting of mantra :- Chanting the sacred mantra while in meditation whole body senses particularly concentrate the thoughts in an effective direction towards the god. In that excersise all the energy centres emanate the latent energy which reflect in a light one may feel so much relaxed and totally detached from the worldly thoughts excersise more and more concentration. For gaining more concentration controlling the breath i.e, control the unnecessary thoughts. Therefore many gurus suggests to chant a sacred mantra. This chanting of mantra create a strong propelling sound waves in side the body touching all energy centres of body push forward towards the brain. In this state the disciple feel much of devine light emanate all over body and feel much relaxed state of mind. To keep feeling this experience continuously and also to prolong one may resort to have concentrating mind. For better concentration chanting of sacred mantra is one. Coming to other point why one has to touch the Thumb with other fingers : It is suggested in some of yogic postures particularly called "Mudras" this posture has tendency to create a different sort of experience in body and mental relaxedness also helps to concentrate the mind on divine objects. In that a more prominent mudra is "Chinmudra" touching the Index finger tip with the thumb and keep other three fingers apart . In this position chanting of mantras will help the mind to concentrate the mind continuously on divine objects/light. In the hindu religious books there is an explanation that Index finger ( jeevatma ... that mean the "I" self esteem identity of physical body) and the Thumb(paramatma ...that mean the God, inner self of person, Godlyness in the body) uniting each other for the salvation from the materialistic worldly affairs. The other three fingers representing the Manas(self),Budhi(Intelligence), Ahankara(Ego) leaving apart from these two fingers means salvation from worldly affairs. That is why in Yoga yogis sit in Asan(posture) and concentrate his mind chanting the mantra keeping the body in perfect erect position and in the above mudras for chanting the sacred mantra continuously to have divine experiences and ecstacy. Ganapati mantra is as below : Agajanana padmargam ; Gajanana maharnisam ; Aneka dantam bhaktanam; Ekadantam upasmahe from PVSC
