Guest guest
Sat Nam All! It's been two weeks since I've been off of Celexa and today is the first day that I've noticibly felt the withdrawal symptoms subside (headaches, disorientation & nausea). In Gururattan's class we've been working with the solar plexus and that has helped my emotions come out that have been hidden for so long. At first (last week) it was uncomfortable, today it's like a blessing. I'm going to continue working on the solar plexus and have also started doing the ra ma da sa meditation. This will be my first time doing a 40 day med. I'm so excited because I actually care! This has brought tears of joy a few times already. Instead of hiding those tears, I'm loving them letting them go. Thanks for "listening" and thanks for this great place where we can post what's happening with ourselves and have love and understanding come back. :-) ~Jeffrey
Guest guest
Way to go, Jeffrey...I am sorry to hear about the side effects...Did your doctor tell you to slowly cut back, or eliminate the Celexa cold turkey all at once? I am curious. You can answer offline if you'd like. I stopped taking my Prozac about 11/1. My doctor said "just stop taking it; no need to wean off of it". I was surprised to hear that, but off I went. No ill effects thus far. I am not doing any special meditations but I am spending more time writing about this experience as it relates to my yoga practice(and the FACT that if it weren't for Kundalini Yoga I would never have been able to build up my strength enough to say bye bye to the drugs). Several weeks ago, one of my teachers said in class, out of the blue, "No one really knows the truth about Prozac and seratonin." That, combined with great encouragement from my boyfriend, really led me to explore the idea that I am no longer depressed and no longer need the chemical help that Prozac gave me. It got me out of a black pit two years ago, but my life is completely different now. I hope this is helpful to anyone considering going off of their antidepressants. Guest guest
Hi Deborah, I read your reply with great interest as I, too, am trying to get off anti-depressants (zoloft). The uncertaintly surrounding them really concerns me! I am new to Kundalini yoga, though I have been practicing hatha yoga for 6 years. Are there any specific poses that you (or anyone else out there might suggest for my particular situation? I have not yet been able to find a class/teacher in my area. Thanks! Guest guest
Dear Janet, With Leo's recommendation, try alternate nostril breathing. It relaxes and energizes at the same time. 11 minutes a day. SAt Nam, Gururattan Kaur
Guest guest
Sat Nam Janet and welcome to the list! You definately came to the right place. I never studied yoga before this year and also do not have a class nearby. However, I've been very pleased with the progress I've made through books as well as this list and the corresponding on-line classes. There are a bunch of wonderful people who post to this list. And every one varies in their experience and background. There are beginners like myself, people with over 30 years experience and just about everything in between. So please feel free to question and contribute. We all gain by the posts and responses. Christa
