Guest guest
Hi, Janet and Hi, Jeffrey... My original post was rejected and then I went off to Albuquerque and Phoenix. Janet, I wonder how long you've been on Zoloft? Seems like Jeffrey and I reached a similar impasse with our respective drugs...I can't help but think that six years of Hatha prepares you well for eliminating the Zoloft, but then again things can get pretty bad sometimes with depression and it feels as if nothing will cut through... There are some wonderful depression-focused kriyas in EIGHT HUMAN TALENTS by Gurmukh. Also, the 3HO website has a terrific easy set for depression. I find that just maintaining my class schedule as I did before 11/1 is enough...for now. I'd like to have a specific conversation with one of my teachers about helpful poses, and when I do, I'll pass along the word. I believe I am also getting a lot of benefit from working with a Homeopath that I like. One more note: I am becoming increasingly less "sleepy". I don't necessarily have a lot more energy, but I have less desire to curl up and nap, or go to bed early...I think I spent a good part of two years on the meds craving more sleep. It feels good to not catch myself yawning, maybe able to read more before bed, etc...I do find that I NEED still around 9 hours of sleep a night. But at least now I don't walk around CRAVING sleep so much. My doctor said yesterday that she had me cut off the Prozac at once(instead of weaning) because it stays in your system for a very long time. This seems to indicate that if I am going to have withdrawal, it could be down the road sometime...Sounds like this is different from other medications. Good luck, everyone. -Deborah _____________ Sign up for FREE iVillage newsletters <http://s.ivillage.com/rd/16705> . >From health and pregnancy to shopping and relationships, iVillage has the scoop on what matters most to you. And yes, please pass on what you find out. I've been doing Ra Ma Da Sa... meditation for 11 days now (beginning my 40 med). When I feel anger, I'll sit and do Sat Kriya. When I just need to relax, alternate nostril breathing is awesome. Gururattan lists an excellent "meditation to get out of depression" at www.kundaliniyoga.org/kyt16.html. I believe this is from Relax and Renew? Not only is it quick, but powerful and can change your emotional state almost instantly. <--Paraphrased from the website. I would add though that I feel this meditation the next day! > It feels good to not catch myself yawning, maybe > able to read more before bed, etc...I do > find that I NEED still around 9 hours of sleep a night. But at least now I don't walk around CRAVING sleep so much. Same here!! I'm down to 7 hours of restful/refreshing sleep a night. It depends upon your doctor, medication and self. My withdrawal symptoms were immediate (even weaning off of them) and terrible. I was able to function, but there were days I wanted to just go back on them and not deal with it. I'm glad I persevered.
