Sat Nam Ranjit,

Congratulations on teaching your first class! I taught my first

class just over 2 years ago to three people as well! At the time I

remember I was glad for a small number as I was nervous and didn't

feel that I could really be sensitive to a larger group. My classes

remained smallish around 8 people for about a nine month period to

begin with. Then I went on a trip to visit a kundalini yoga studio

elsewhere then where I live. I had never seen anyone but my teacher

teach before. I had the opportunity to watch and learn from a

variety of instructors there (although I came home with a whole new

appreciation for my teacher!) I realized how blessed I am to to

taught by such a masterful teacher. During that trip Yogi Bhajan

happened to be at that studio, speaking the week that I was there as

well. Something in me was changed from that experience.

I came home and started a new year teaching. Suddenly, on a weekly

basis I had people calling me offering me jobs. I went from

teaching 2 classes to 10 in a 2 month period. I was immersed in my

passion and making a living at it! I was thrilled! My teacher had

told me that meeting Yogi Bhajan had connected me to the Golden

Chain of Teachers.

The biggest difference I noticed right away was that after I tuned

in I always seemed to have a lot to say. One day I realized I was

saying something that I personally didn't know to be true. I found

myself wondering where this was coming from? In time I learnt to

trust this flow of consciousness that would come through me because

I would then attend my teacher's class and he'd be discussing the

same things in his classes. It really struck home that God's got me

covered while I teach.

On my way to teach each class, I do a surrender. I pray, God be in

my thoughts, God be in my actions and God be in my words. May I be a

reflection of the Divine today. May we heal what can be healed, may

we be uplifted and blessed Sat Nam. And it's never failed me yet!

I like give people longer breaks between exercises as well and I use

that time to coach them in Sat Nam Rasayan. Although I've never put

it in that context to the class. It's very effective in creating a

very deep relaxation throughout the class!

The bottom line is every teacher has their gifts that shine and we

all serve a purpose no matter what are styles etc are.

Warmest wishes in the evolution of your teaching career,

Sat Sangeet
