Guest guest
Sat Nam Avtar, A wise choice Avtar, you're a yogini who likes a challenge!? This meditation is challenging from the very first because of the arm position. I tried it the first couple of times on the edge of my chair--I use a chair to meditate--but unless your spine is perfectly straight from tailbone to top of head, you WILL feel where it's out of alignment as the meditation goes along. After my first experiment, I decided to sit back in the chair and use a folded towel to push my spine and keep it aligned. The edge of the chair was too much to deal with, as you found out there are alot of little 'pains' you have to deal with. "My shoulders and neck have been really sore as a result, but today I managed to stay in my body/ heart for most of it and lost awareness of my arms. However, when I came out of it my whole neck shoulder and arm area felt really awful - sore isn't exactly the word, it felt more like they were frozen and burning, if that makes any sense." --your neck was probably not aligned, the energy builds where there is a kink, try subtly tucking the chin. I move it from time to time if it doesn't feel right. The neck and shoulder area have a 'tie-in' where they meet, the weight of the arms tends to pull the shoulders forward on this, that pain can be avoided by just pushing the shoulders back until the sit directly over the rib cage and line up with the spine. My left shoulder aches constantly --high and inside near the pectoral muscle, just the way it is. --The left shoulder, its going to burn/ache. That alternates with 'losing feeling' of the shoulder. YES, YOU ARE ON THE RIGHT TRACK. Don't fall into the trap of waiting for that experience, let it be whatever it is, pleasure or pain its all the same. I had success earlier on when I began the meditation staying very neutral, don't cosy up to the numbness because then you began to 'hate' the pain. Just let it be what it is and stick to the mantra. I've noticed the numbness usually happens when your awareness is focused on the mantra/visualization, I also visualize Bhaugvati (on the tiger), which helps to keep bringing me back when mind drifts. --I never have a problem in the aftermath. I do stretch my shoulders out afterwards though. If your neck area is hurting, look into how you are holding your alignment during the meditation. Mine lets me know right away if I'm not sitting with my spine straight. Your doing great Avtar. Don't worry about the times, stick with the time you've got now for a while, I go totally by intuition, and its worked great for me. I'm right now starting to have feelings that I can go to full 62 minutes on the last meditation. One other 'event' worth mentioning, take the meditation with you throughout the day. I practice staying in the heart center, and when I find I'm thinking or fantasizing, I go back to my heart, just like in the meditation. Congrats on the times! You go yogini! Guest guest
Thanks everyone who answered my queries. I had already decided to go on intuition on this one, and my intuition to do this was so strong I realized I needed to go though whatever was coming up. Not to be stupid of course- I will take care to keep my spine and neck aligned and yes Deva, my left shoulder HURTS. But nothing is gained the easy way for me, so I'll just keep going. Will let you all know how it goes. Many thanks again and much love, Avtar ______________ Sign Up for Juno Platinum Internet Access Today Only $9.95 per month! Guest guest
Sat NAm Avtar, Good decision! The Divine Mother is calling you! What's that I hear...Adi Shakti, Adi Shakti.. Your doing great, embrace the pain, welcome it. Just keep the mantra and keep coming back to the heart center. "I will take care to keep my spine and neck aligned and yes Deva, my left shoulder HURTS." --So did mine this morning and I'm on day 130 or so. The only way not to linger on it is to accept it, be neutral and keep the mantra and your heart center. "But nothing is gained the easy way for me, so I'll just keep going. Will let you all know how it goes." --'easy way', it took me 120 days just to move from 22 minutes to 53. Please keep us updated!
