Guest guest
Dear Avatar Kaur, It depends on the meditation. But in this meditation {in the Master's Touch, page 66, Ashtang Agni Kriya (Eightfold Fold Kriya of Kundalini Yoga), I should have mentioned that at the end, you inhale deeply hold the breath and press your arms and shoulders back as far as possible, hands open and stretched, pressing the chest forwards, feeling the suspension of the air in the lungs pushing against the diaphragm, pull the root lock, and let the light pour from the heart, atma nadi and crown chakra. Hold for 30 seconds, then exhale forcefully and inhale 3 times and again hold as before. As mentioned in the previous e-mail, you will feel electric and you will feel the lumination of the heart crown chakra the vagus nerve between and actually a brightening that pierces the body within and without. (If you're saving that last e-mail, you might want to add the above text to the appropriate location.) ---- Regarding the use of the root lock, the purpose is to draw up the expanding energy in the body that has a tendency to flow downward, when we inhale at the end of a set (due to the nerves firing in the lungs, diaphragm, the area the kundalini yoga exercise puts pressure on, and due to the secretion of glands), so that it comes up into the Kandal area, between the 4th vertebra and navel. This area has a much higher natural voltage than the nerves in the body. When the prana is drawn to the Kandal, it comes down to the base of the spine then rises through the sushumna (the central cord of the spine). It does this even though you may not feel it. But, as you continue to practice, you will begin to feel the flow of prana in the ida (moon channel - to the left of the spine), pingala (sun channel - to the right of the spine) and through the sushumna. As this begins to happen, you will also feel a lightless in the body and a brightness, and a deepening and stilling of the mind. When before, the mind would draw you out and back to thought and action activities, you will begin to find that you are drawn more and more and longer and longer to abide in the deepening still point. Just keep on doing sets and meditations with chants, every morning, and occasionally, when you can, at kundalini yoga classes and workshops, and all this will unfold for you, and you will abide in the nameless Truth (we call Sat Nam). Or is that only to be used with pranayams and sets ? Avtar
