Guest guest
Sat Nam Leo, It sounds as if you're getting pulled through the wringer backwards living with HIV and all the meds that go along with the treatment! It sounds as if you're doing a great job at keeping up though. KY is a vast science and even if you practiced only breathing and 3rd eyepoint focus with awareness I believe you would experience huge transformation. So I don't think there's any reason to feel like you're not doing "enough" when you are really, essentially keeping up. I think having the intention to heal, transform, to practice yoga etc. as best you can coupled with surrender to the Divine will is a powerful concoction! JUST breathing...! breathing is everything! Breath of life, Vital life force energy,Prana! we take for granted everything that is found in just one breath. All Light, all love and all Divine intelligence, all in one breath! So if all you can do on any given day is breath! Then I say congratualtions!!! Drink in as much of it as you can!! enjoy it, be blessed by it, be graced by it...Allow this healing light to permeate your every cell... and I could go on and on...I'm really passionate about the breath! Being at winter solstice made something very clear to me about "keeping up". I have a tendency to be fanatical around keeping up. You know dragging yourself out of bed at 4am day after day when all signs point to sleep deprivation etc, yet I've made a committement to "Keep up" so I do it. At winter solstice, I noticed not everyone kept up? What we think everyone else is doing is not always what everyone else is doing. I realized rules about how long should I practice yoga or meditate or what time should I get up or what should I eat and not eat... these are guidelines for the ideal... then eveyone's body/system will fit within a gradation of this. Some people's nervous system will never function on 6 hours of sleep etc. Keep up, means do the best that you can under the circumstances. We don't need to compare our practices to anybody else's to see whether we are doing enough, just like you said, I am listening to my inner voice. When you are able to do more you will be called to do more. That inner voice will become so loud, it will wake you up at 4 am screaming "I can't wait to meditate!" etc or 'I will never eat another piece of meat" or whatever your challenge might be. Your circumstances are challenging, with be nauseated etc and trying to practice yoga. The physical exercises in yoga are meant to prepare the body so you can sit and meditate, so if your navel warm up before you begin is "puking" so be it! That's the circumstance your in, surrender to it and carry on as best you can and you'll reap the rewards. Sat Nam Leo and many blessings, Sat Sangeet kaur
Guest guest
Dear Sat Sangeet Kaur, Thank you very much for sharing your experiences with us. It was great to hear your views on being fanatical about one's practice. I came back from Master's Touch this fall all fired up to get up every morning for sadhana. I certainly have done my sadhana evry day, but soon realised I am at a time in my life when I simply cannot survive on less sleep. My job is physically demanding, I have a family and have low estrogen levels which make me very tired. So I set my own boundaries, which I decided for me were doing my practice EVERY day, but at whatever time I can fit it in. The family have gotten used to me disappearing into my yoga roon for about two hours, and have come to accept it and leave me alone. That in itself was a huge step. I keep the ideal in front of me and certainly intend to try and get up early as often as I can. I know the time will come when I will be able to do that on a regular basis, and so will wait patiently for it to unfold. Since I was always someone who wanted everything yesterday it's a big improvement. We all have to make accomodations with our lives and abilities.
