Guest guest
Sat Nam Dharam I'm pleased you picked up on the fact that most white foods are processed. I am not into white bread etc and had have been pondering the types of foods that come under "white". During looking up my numerology under neutral mind which is my Karma(4th Guru), Guruchander Singh Khalsa in his books Numerology and Tantric Numerology suggests white clothing and white food. I assumed that this is an ancient thing i.e. no processed food about and fundamentally Indian....soo I thought up a few: coconuts, milk, cottage cheese, yoghurt, haricot beans but was 1. wondering if off white is considered white I.e. brown rice, bananas 2. what your thoughts are on this line of thinking? To add confusion, I have a Soul of seven and should eat amber foods and wear amber? I guess I'm also asking where do I start. There are also many meditations mentioned. Any comments will be greatly appreciated. Sat Nam Mimi thank you Mimi
Guest guest
Natural fibers, besides other nutrients, are removed from white/processed foods. If you have eaten both white and brown/non-processed varieties of the same food-item, you might have noticed that the white one feels a little rubbery, takes more time to chew and hence to digest. The human system does not have the enzyme to digest cellulose/fiber. Elephants do (and, they are the best examples of how strong vegetarians can become). If we have the enzyme to digest cellulose, we will be as big-sized as elephants too, and eating every plant and tree branch. Nevertheless, fibers are still very important for the human body, as they form a coarse protective layer for the stomach linings. The food substances will not directly be exposed to the stomach linings when there is enough fiber in your diet, as, else, the food can have a corrosive effective on the stomach wall. Fiber also provides enough solid roughage and weight for waste disposal, thereby avoiding constipation ( which is a certain fallout from white/processed foods). Hence, more greens ( which has tons of fiber ) and non-processed food items are recommended. Gayathri Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. Sign up now. http://mailplus. Guest guest
Since fibers are highly important, you can also get them from skin of fruits and vegetables ( which many people peel and throw off ). The skin of fruits and vegetables also have 30-40% of the nutrition of the entire fruit/vegetable. Keep the skins of fruits/vegetable intact as much as you can. Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. Guest guest
Sat Nam Gayathri: So are you saying to eat the white processed food with the fiber and other nutrients in them but to make sure to ingest enough fiber by eating green foods? I, myself, am on a strict diet that omits most white foods: breads (except whole grain) and all white flour products, pasta, white rices, potatoes (without skins; with, they are a brown food and retain their fiber content), sugar, etc. I also eliminate all forms of sugar: brown sugar, molasses, honey, sugar cane, etc. I do this because while your last post states that we digest white foods more slowly, we convert them to sugar in our bodies more quickly, precisely because of the fiber and nutrients being removed. The rapid conversion to sugar causes insulin levels to rise quickly and produces spikes of energy in the body, and then corresponding dips, unless you contiuously feed yourself more "sugar" foods (which, by the way, also include some vegetables, like corn and carrots). I have found that eliminating these high glycemic index foods, as they're called, helps to maintain my energy at a stable rate, which benefits me both physically and spiritually. Not only do I not experience the lows upon the decline of insulin, beta endorphins and other chemicals which "sugar" (these white) foods produces drop, I am not relying on external sources for my energy. My body has learned to better its use its natural energy sources. Eating this way has allowed me to sleep less, feel clearer-headed, and more alertm, aware and mindful. This also helps to eliminate sugar cravings, for anyone struggling with that problem. I offer this as my own experience. Of course, we are all different. But I was either confused by your recommendation in favor of thes particular whites (as opposed to dairy whites), or most surprised by it, as good nutrition is an important spiritual aid, and sugar is in some way, a drug, to be avoided like caffeine... Please forgive me if I misunderstood. Still, I hope my input is helpful to someone out there. Susan

NO, NO, NO. I read my own mail again to check if I had accidentally sent in any confusing messages which would indicate favoritism towards white/processed foods. To me, it doesn't. The final statement mentions that greens and non-processed foods are recommended because the fibers and nutrients are present in them. I have also indicated that white/processed foods leads to constipation due to lack of fibres. Additionally, as you had said, white foods spike up insulin levels. gayathri > > I, myself, am on a strict diet that omits most white > foods: breads (except > whole grain) and all white flour products, pasta, > white rices, potatoes > (without skins; with, they are a brown food and > retain their fiber content), > sugar, etc. I also eliminate all forms of sugar: > brown sugar, molasses, > honey, sugar cane, etc. > > I do this because while your last post states that > we digest white foods more > slowly, we convert them to sugar in our bodies more > quickly, precisely > because of the fiber and nutrients being removed. > The rapid conversion to > sugar causes insulin levels to rise quickly and > produces spikes of energy in > the body, and then corresponding dips, unless you > contiuously feed yourself > more "sugar" foods (which, by the way, also include > some vegetables, like > corn and carrots). > > I have found that eliminating these high glycemic > index foods, as they're > called, helps to maintain my energy at a stable > rate, which benefits me both > physically and spiritually. Guest guest
Dear Dharam, Mimi, Gayathri, Sue, I always assumed Guruchander Singh Khalsa was talking about natural white foods in Numerology and Tantric Numerology and have worked on this basis ever since reading his books. I take white foods to mean white and off-white. Specifically millet(for the spleen), onions(for the lungs), tofu/bean curd, milk, cottage cheese, white corn, kudzu, potatoes, white maize meal, arrowroot etc. I am sure he was never meaning us to eat white processed foods! Guest guest
Hi Ruth, This is a Hoot! I can't stop laughing! Great discussion, though. Sure, there are "white foods" including grits (for a definition of a "Grit" rent "My Cousin Vinny" again) that are just fine and are not processed. Actually, it's the "black foods" that'll get you just as bad. Ribs, all kinds of fried stuff and them pork chops I have to steer around at family reunions/gatherings. I even have had to change my flight plans just to get away from all that rich food. To all our health......socially and politically! ) Sat Nam (HA!)
