Guest guest
Dear Friends, For the last two weeks I have had an ongoing constant dull pain / ache in the area between my left scapular and spinal column and where my back meets my neck also on the left side. Despite having had a friend try to help with mini-massages on the back and the neck...it seems to be an ongoing thing. It's aggravated by typing, washing up.. and any general repetitive movement of my left arm. Today it's been painful all day even when I don't move at all. I did stretch pose in Sadhana and am wandering if that's aggravated it too. I've a hunch that perhaps my vertabrae on my neck maybe out of alignment but can't afford to visit a chiropracter right now. Does anyone have any suggestions that could help me re-align my neck myself? Yogic or otherwise. I'm presuming that it's coming from the neck and that the cervical spine nerves are those that feed into the muscles of the shoulder /scapular. Any advise much much appreciated. Guest guest
Sat Nam Krishan-Shiva Kaur I have a similar problem and I am left handed. Are you? I visited a chinese doctor and had acupuncture and massage this week. I found it very beneficial. Guest guest
Oops, meant to say that it was on the right side, not left. And I am right-handed so ofcourse the dominant side moving more aggravates it. Accupuncture sounds good, and in the past few weeks I have occasionally felt some temporary relief having a friend do shiatsu down the bladder meridian (those lovely points that run down the back either side of the spinal column). Unfortunately it's only enough to help me to sleep and then back it comes again. I can't afford to see a pro such as chiroprator or acupuncturist right now, and the parecetomol don't seem to be helping either. Thus the search for a yogic answer. Guest guest
Sat Nam, Have a "qualified" friend massage your shoulders. I mean someone who doesn't just carress the skin but digs deep into the muscles so the stress can be released. I think everyone needs a friend like this. Be one and attract one. SAt Nam,. Guest guest
Sat Nam, Sorry I read my emails from bottom up. I see you do have such a friend. There are some neck adjustment exercises in RElax and REnew. How about offering to trade a KY lesson to a chiropractor. I am sure there is one that needs KY as much as you need an adjustment. Call and ask. Sat Nam, GRK
Guest guest
Sat Nam Krishan Shiva Kaur, I would suggest the "Chi Roller" for your neck/shoulder/scapula pain. It does sound like some sort of repetitive injury. The Chi Roller realigns by putting pressure on the major accupressure points in the neck and along the spine. It is relatively inexpensive $19.95, usually includes free shipping and may be ordered on-line. A search could bring it up, I think it is theroadtowellness.com, but I'm not sure. I am an Ayurvedic massage therapist/Yoga instructor and my students/clients and I love it! You might also try a homemade still point inducer, using two tennis balls in a sock, side by side tied tightly...place them under your head directly behind the eyes for about 15 minutes while deeply relaxing. Wishing you relief... Namaste, Rebecca
Guest guest
About a couple of months ago, I sent a mail listing a set of absolutely non-stressing, yet very simple and highly effective exercises that could be done lying in savasana, to strengthen all the muscles from head to toe with minimal effort. Lying in savasana and doing the exercises to strengthen the neck portion, cuts off the weight of the head on the neck, making it very safe. Gayathri Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable.
