Guest guest
Krishan Shiva, I was just thinking about postures and kriyas that have worked for me in the past to unlock my back. The only thing is, is that if the rib has rotated then some of these tend to aggravate it, if the joint is just locked, sometimes it will open it up. 1) frog pose 2) spinal Twist (aggravates rib), head circles 3)plow pose (''''''''''''''') 4) Wahe Guru Kriya (Shakta's book, lots of head rotation in it) 5) heart opening kriya's where arms are held up or out to the side (but if it's an in flammation of the muscle that would make it worse) 6)(If you know SNR) Sat nam Rasayan on yourself, have an intention to understand what the pain is related to and to release whatever can be released at this time. 7) if it's muscular tension you can also use a tennis ball to massage your own back. Lay on top of the ball placed between the spine and shoulder blade roll around until you find the sore spot and hold it, breathe, and open your awareness, see if some of the tension will release, maybe some awareness will rise up into your consciousness? At any rate, try to rule out on the physical level first what the problem isn't, because your approach to self healing is different based on what the symptoms are. In my experience, the muscles reflect what's happening structurally (in the spine) so just working on a muscle can give some relief, But it might not take you to the root of the problem unless there is something else going on during the treatment like healing of some kind. It usually requires a mixture of therapies and a meditative practice. My first line of attack, is to always get some initial decrease in the pain. Those original suggestions of ice and stretch should help, you might try the tennis ball massage as well, "as things to get you through the night". Feel better, Sat Sangeet
