Guest guest
Hello Please could someone help me with this, as I am new to the Group. I have always practised Jalandhara Bhanda, when meditating, with my chin parallel to the floor, sitting up out of the hips. On reading your instructions, I understand that one sits with the chin resting on the notch between the collarbones, pulling the chin back towards the neck, head straight, not tilted downwards. I find this hurts my upper back. Is this usual at this early stage? Should the chin drop a little? Many thanks and with love Diana

When I do this lock I move my chin back until I feel the kink (spine is slightly curved there) in the back of my neck straighten, you should feel a slight pressure in the back of the head from the lock. Be well Deva

If JALANDHARA Bhanda / Neck lock is performed properly, should the throat still feel completely open? I've noticed that when a chant / meditation specifically calls for neck lock.. that if you pull a complete neck lock, it seems to close off the throat and make chanting difficult, it certainly seems to create tension around the throat so that chanting feels tight rather than relaxed. On the chants.. should we pull a gentle neck lock as opposed to the firm neck loack which is used when inhaling and holding at the end of exercises to ensure that the energy can flow freely upto the head?
