Guest guest
Sat Nam, The directions to the elusive hot springs ( I had to follow locals around forever, no one seemed to want to share;) ) Heading out of town towards Los Alamos past Steamboat Springs rock on the same side (right) the second parking lot you see is where you can park. (wear hiking shoes!) Facing the mountain on the right look about 30 degrees to your left about half way up the mountain. You will probably hear voices(if it's a nice day) and depending on your eyesight may even detect some movement. You have found the springs! Now the hike! Head down the slope towards the right, you will hopefully see a trail it winds through boulders, coming to a log over the river, cross and then begin heading up the mountain to your left. There are several trails so hopefully others will be there and you will follow the voices. It is a ways up so don't lose heart. It is an incredible spot. There are actually 3 hot springs cascading into each other(and very hot!) and an isolated one further up and to the the left. My fondest memory was sitting alone watching the sun set, looking out over pine tree tops. ahhhh! Of course the hike back, with dark closing in on me was a challenge. Best of luck Sat Sangeet in finding it. It is most definetly worth the search. Totally a different experience from Ojo Caliente. I have heard of hidden springs off of the road to Fenton Lake (126) but never found them. Enjoy, Namaste, Rebecca
