Guest guest
Sat Nam everyone, I think it's important to note that I'm not speaking of this as a feminist issue. When I say,masculine/feminine,I am speaking of the energy each embodies not the sex organ attached to the body. At the deepest level what I am asking is...Who are we as a human race?...what components come together to create this race? The ingredients are men and women. To say we are they same... is not true? Just try to have a conversation unconsciously with the opposite sex...we are hard wired differently...and I would assume that was the Divine's plan?? wouldn't you? Why? How do we compliment each other? I think as we become more balanced...yes, the distance between us becomes smaller or rather...transcendant (as someone said earlier). Our goal in every part of our life is union. Every interaction we have is an intercourse with the possibility of union. My question isn't what's wrong with the male gender...no, no, no...I'm asking at the heart of it...who are you as a man (in your heart)? And I don't mean by this, that I know who I am as a woman...I'm learning as I go and muddling through, but I have a vision of what that might look like and perhaps the answer is that the vision I have of being a "non-neurotic woman" would be the same for a man?....That's why I am asking these questions...not because I know...but because I want to deeply understand. In an enlightened world how does the energy of masculine vary from the feminine? People keep describing what a man isn't...but nobody's telling me what he is. And these don't have to be mind blowing answers either that you give me... I really appreciate the responses from everyone so far...and especially the brave men who have responded...perhaps this is all just food for thought and we all muddle through together and learn as we go. But I keep coming back to...if we don't know what the possibilities are of who we might evolve into as men and woman and united as a race...how do we make our decisions and choices in order to create that future? Let's speak in the positive...(we all know what isn't working, let's speak about what we know so far is working and what might work!) All blessings, Sat Sangeet
Guest guest
Sat Sangeet, It's the most enlightening thing to hear you ask 'what is the essence of a man' or of a woman. You must know we're in the same boat - I don't know either. So we know something: that we don't know, but we are expected to act a certain way, to be a certain way. We have duties, you and I, and they are dictated by flesh. I don't think that testoscerone is a poison, but I can certainly understand how any substance used to excess can become toxic. The essence of a seed is not necessarily the flower, because the flower is there in part to generate more seeds. We combine in sexuality genetically, physically, socially - you and I are division itself. The words we use to seduce each other are based on more divisions and mutual exclusions. Our essence is to divide, and in dividing create unity. When I think of essence, I think of what Gururattan says all the time about the heart center: there are no words at the heart, there is no division. Many people think that the future will be glorious if we can just put something in charge in place of patriarchy. This is just another division masquerading as a unity. When I think of the feminine I don't think of Woman anymore: I think of primal creation, of creative principle. Women's bodies incarnate this principle, and the Female some women and men want to replace the Male that is in charge of our shredded society today is nothing more than another Male masquerading as a better "alternative". What is steadiness? It's the opposite of fluctuation. You fluctuate, I refuse to. Too far over the limit and you'll be "hysterical" and I'll be "tough," refusing all emotion and intuition. If our bodies incarnate division, our souls don't have to. Our action in the world doesn't have to. Our soul has no essence that can be explained in terms of divisions. P.S. Baba means father, sat sangeet.
Guest guest
Sat Nam Baba and Guru Shabd Singh, ....Thank you both for speaking deeply to the essence of the question that I was asking...I now understand and can let this subject lie...and see how things unfold...I now have some clarity in how as individuals or parts of the whole we are to some degree different (and not in a bad way...but a complimentary way) and how in the realm of the soul there is no division...ever. You both spoke beautifully to the essence of what I was asking. Much appreciation and thanks... Blessings to All... Sat Sangeet PS. And I also apologize to the group for straying so far off topic...I'll try to keep focused from here on in. thomas <brian wrote: Sat Sangeet, It's the most enlightening thing to hear you ask 'what is the essence of a man' or of a woman.
