(Re: Beta mastery, the tongue and no discussion (a repost)

Getting the mind to quiet is something usually best accomplished by working

through the body. Yogiji says don't try to solve problems but strive to

drop them. (dissolve, don't solve). He says of fear to take them the highest

place within yourself and drop them. Getting to that highest place is

something done with Sadhana (spiritual practice). Spiritual practice involves

yoga, chanting and/or meditation. On another level what we are trying to

do is reduce and master Beta brain waves. One way of doing this is to relax our

tongue. Relaxing our tongue is relaxing to our mind. When we think, we

have a tendency to talk to ourselves. Even if we are not aware of this

sub-vocalization out tongue will feel tense, ready for action when we are

thinking. You may experience this as a gentle pulling at the back of the tongue

or may not feel it at all, but if you relax your tongue completely you

cannot talk to yourself, therefore it is much more difficult to think. (I don't

suggest doing this while operating heavy machinery) Now, one can

simply be still, block every other thing and focus only on the tongue and

relaxing it. To relax the tongue (mouth and jaw) allow it to become short

and fat and feel as though it were floating in the mouth cavity. Stay with this

for a minute or more and experience it for yourself. Yogis will often

do Lion breath, Sitali breath and other extending and twisting actions of the

tongue to get a relaxation response. You can try these as they are very

effective. All in all, when practicing any yoga keep your mouth and tongue

relaxed. Smiling helps a bunch. Enunciating (and not mumbling) our mantras

with exaggerated mouth movements is also key to a profound experience.

Check out kundalini yogakyt21.html as it specifically works with

the brain waves and the mouth.
