Guest guest
Leo! Do you know what's really fun fun fun! Ecstatic dance! Start at your feet and move up! Just allow your body to move in whatever way feels appropriate...move it in every direction and way you can think of and then let go.... and let your body tell "you" how it wants to move! And feel deeply as you do this...give yourself permission to be as silly or expressive or non expressive as you want..but listen and move and respond to your body. Feel the music in every cell of your body. As A Yogini...I no longer frequent bars and night clubs! But I began to miss dance tremendously...I used to take organized dance but found it too organized for my needs...I always ended up thinking.. can't we just dance..do we have to do all of this counting and choreograpy? So I started inviting people over...and we'd chat for a while.. then I'd clap my hands together and say "okay then..shall we dance?" A lot of people did not take me up on my offer..but some did! and we'd have a hoot! My kitchen doubles as my dance floor (slippery vinyl floor), we move out the kitchen table and voila! I EVEN OWN A STROBE LIGHT!! Ha ha! I naturally incorporate dance into my life...for me it's right up there with expressing your self musically..it's like life blood for me. I'm often "caught" by my husband dancing to the song in my head around the house...it doesn't phase him any more...but in the beginning he'd often ask me "do you realize you are dancing?" And I'd just giggle...Maybe I did and maybe I didn't? You'll never know! The first time I attended one of Gurmukh's classes we danced! As my teacher told me once...there's actually dancing in KY..usually people are just a little too self conscious to do it. Well! they do it L.A. I found out! Cheers! Happy Dancing! Guest guest
On the dance theme, I felt I needed some cardiovascular work in addition to KY ( strokes in my family) , but I hate organised exercise. So I got myself a mini trampoline ($20 in Walmart) and put on the fastest music I can find and jump and dance to my heart's content ! I do it for about 10 mins a day and have found it to be WONDERFUL. I'll never get sick of it either, as all you have to do is change the music when you get bored.
