skin rash...

My 10yr old daughter has had this recurring rash for about 21days now.

It comes and goes on all different parts of her body. Kind of like hives, at

times very itchy. Other than itchiness and redness, on one occasion she

became short of breath which lasted a few hours.

I would like to practice KY with her because I think she will be more willing

if we do it together. She has never practiced KY before.

Can someone suggest a set?

~thanks

She has been evaluated by health care professionals. They say it is probably

nothing serious and are not concerned at this time. They want to her ride it

out, wait and see. It was only on one ocassion she had shortness of breath. I

certainly want to nip this thing before it escalates into something further.

I'm unable to think of anything new introduced to her, foods, detergents,

animals, etc.

I was thinking of doing Serabandanda Kriya with her, from Transitions.

She is 10yrs old, is this okay for her to do? She has never done KY before?

Or, are there any other suggestions.

~thanks

I don't have a set to suggest but I would suggest you get her evaluated

by a healthcare professional. If she has breathing diffiiculites as well

as a rash then she's allergic to something, and you don't want it to

escalate into a serious reaction.

How about at school, day care, etc. ? Known irritants include, harsh

chemicals, face soaps and creams, new sheets and pillow cases, new clothes

(natural fibers are better than synthetic), allergens and dust; ultraviolet

rays; and bacteria, fungi, or viruses. They can also occur from a buildup

of toxins in the body but that seems unlikely in a 10 year old. A

Dr./biologist would be able to determine that, though.

As far as food goes, my chiropractor/Kinesiologist says all dairy products

(milk, eggs, cheese) as well as chicken are likely culprits if a rash is

caused from food allergies. Omit the above foods for a period of time and

see if the rash goes away. If it does, start adding the food back one at

a time to find the likely culprit.

I am not a doctor but I've read or heard of the following to treat rashes:

I've heard that barley water can help alleviate skin inflammations

(rashes). To make it, boil 3 1/2 oz. of barley in 1 qt. of water for 15

min. Strain the liquid and allow to cool. Soak cotton balls in the barley

water and carefully dab onto the affected areas. Chamomile tea compress is

also good to soothe inflames skin.

Also 10-15 minutes of sun exposure helps heal many skin ailments.

A well- rounded children vitamin helps.

Just some suggestion, hope they help!

Thoughtfully,

Nancy

Just one last thought on the allergy front - one can develop allergies

to anything at any time, even if one was not previously affected.
